The Ford 6.8l 3 valve V10 Triton is the best gasoline light duty truck engine of the 2000s and the 2010s. Arguably, it's the best gas truck engine overall from a maintenance perspective.

My evidence for this claim?
>service records
>adoption for use in demanding roles such as industrial backup power generation
>fleet composition
>parts availability
>production run (over 20 years)

There really isn't another engine of its class and intended use that can compete. It's almost a uniquely good machine from that perspective. It's astounding that both Japan and Europe produced a gas engine that met or exceeded the standard set by the V10 Triton during its long production run.
