Like any sort of protest or popular demand for it? or do people just simply not care for it?

A country that isn't federal but has federalism as a high demand that I could think of is the Phillipines.

Whats the point of federalism?

Representing more of your local community instead of being under the rule of the guys back at the capital city, cutting off burdens for the central government so that it can focus on more important things like the military, foreign policy, etc, and overall can be pretty self-sufficient for the entire country.

Some countries with federalism in the government includes Brazil, the United States, Germany, Pakistan, and Malaysia.

Read them if you can!
