We drive more than most countries due to cheap gas and spread out urban areas. It's that simple. Most people that care about hypercars are third worlders from Asia, MENA and the former Soviet dumpster countries.

I have a comfy tiny 4 cylinder Merceded C-Class for inner city commutes and an older reliable Japanese mid sized SUV (FX37) for road trips, weekends, camping etc. I think it's funny that foreignishers have to make up some sort of in depth sociological theories to explain away the obvious environmental and practicality reasons why Americans do things differently.
