I got some:1. iPhones give you status. Here a minimum salary is $550 USD. Engineers earn $2500. Tech in general is expensive, specially Apple products. Even still if thirdies have iPhones, it's probably just an iPhone 11.2. Brands like Adidas and Victoria Secret give you status. Same reason as 1.3. You got to work 3-4 months at McDonald's and save everything in order to buy a 2k dollar PC.4. Working a summer for travelling to the West is unheard of. Only college graduates with a job can afford to travel abroad. And that's just engineers and nurses (and higher positions in hospitals).5. Our best universities don't even have a tenth of the budget of a University from a developed country.6. 180cm (5'11')' men are considered tall. Our youngest men are 175cm (5'9'') in average. That's because we don't got enough money for red meats or pork. Those who do are tall. Aside from western tourists, 2 meters tall men (above 6'4'') basically do not exist.7. The median wealth per adult is 20k USD, meaning half of our population have 20k USD or less in assets + savings.8. At least in Chile, our high school classrooms look like picrel. We're not taught calculus at school nor any university-level course (again, at least in Chile).

>>217687180really? can you elaborate?
>>217686928>Engineers earn $2500.inceleers earn 1500€ here
>>217686928>iPhones give you statuslol
>>217686928>brands give you statusStop being a consoomer shitbrain. We stopped giving a shit about brands imc since the late 90s. Nowadays, showing off branded goods will "chop" you as a gaudy wannabe. Actual rich people will go out to eat wearing sandals and tatty t-shirts. They'll eat at roadside stalls too because that's where the good food is. You only glam up for formal events and even then, understated is more.
When I visited the third world for the first time (London) I was shocked at how poor the food and beer quality was despite supposedly having better regulations than the US. Furthermore, it was a shock to me that thirdies do not have any freedoms such as saying nigger or owning guns. It is also evident that many people in the third world are inbred, especially muslims, and they have the most atrocious English accents despite growing up watching American movies from 20 years ago.
You know what's messed up? In Mexico, UNAM (a public university) is considered one of the top 5 universities in the country. Its entrance exams are a massacre; less than 10% of applicants are admitted. But even then, the situation at this university is a disaster. There's crime on campus, classrooms lack necessary materials, the facilities are neglected, the professors are just bureaucrats who are impossible to fire, and therefore the academic quality within the university is very low. The only prestige this university has is that the exams are very difficult, not the teaching. So if you manage to pass, it's because you can handle anything. Therefore, the number of people who graduate in engineering and science is less than 10% of the students who entered those programs.Less than 10% are admitted, and less than 10% of that 10% graduate. The worst private university is better than this university, but... People refuse to accept it; basically, prestigious public universities are government money laundering operations. Although they receive a large budget, that's not reflected in the universities themselves.
>>217686928Biggest culture shock for me going to Japan was having such an amazing train system compared to our bus system.
