>>217709933you have one? >>217709953I'm asking for your opinion
You just made this thread.
>>217709976I made it yesterday. over 16 hours ago.
>>217709933>>217709953>>217709976is there some reason why you all are so upset today? aligned periods due to the lunar cycle?
>>217709888Really limited instruments like this essentially just exist for the purpose of sound effects, easily replaced with a VST.
>>217709888Percussion instruments are for retards so yes you should get one.
That's for little girls.
>>217709970sold it didn't use itguess it's cool if you have yoga sessions and make the sound for that or other hippie shit
meme instrumentit has only 5 notes and it's tuned to a fixed major/relative minor natural scalenot much to do with it other than being a pretentious hipsterhttps://i.4cdn.org/wsg/1766081321862755.webm
>>217710087>>217710160>>217710091>>217710107ok what about the mouth harp? is this better or worse?
>>217710192Same issue really, but at least it's nowhere near as expensive so there's little reason not to get one.
>>217709970>your opinionDo you play an instrument or have any knowledge of music at all?I don't think it's a great introduction to music if your previous answer is no, increasing the likelihood of you end up dropping it. I have a piece of shit gathering dust in my room as well, it's a yamaha keyboard though
>>217710192just get a harmonica
>>217710091Plenty of great pieces for vibraphone, marimba, various drum set-ups etc.
>>217709888The most irritating buskers in Europe like ding-donging on those things. Most appear to just be doodling out more or less random notes—I don’t think I ever heard anyone play anything I could perceive as a recognizable melody or song. Just hippies making wind chime noises.I actually think they produce somewhat pleasant tones, but neither I nor anyone else in the world ever wants to listen to you improvising lengthy solos on them. If you can integrate it into more fully realized pieces of music, with other instruments, and/or plan to use it in recordings, then sure, go for it. If it’s your first foray into any kind of music, you can’t already play other things, and your plan is just to bang on it by yourself in your room, or, god forbid, out on some sidewalk somewhere, I wouldn’t encourage it. But suit yourself—maybe you’ll get a lot of joy out of it. But I will always discourage you from trying to perform with it unless you’ve got both accompanying musicians and talent.
>>217710214>>217710087what is a VST? are you a musician
>>217710365https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Studio_Technology
>>217710160>>217710250>>217710283>>217710288I'm thinking about getting a kalimba, mouth harp, and handpan. would that be a good harmonious combination for making spiritual music
>>217710393>>217710288>>217710214anon I disagree with you btw. There are many sounds you can make on a handpan which cannot be made using a DAW like fl studio or whatever because while you can modulate sample sounds with a DAW, you can't truly recreate the "background" notes you hear in a video like this: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/QVJoOzfXB40the sounds of tapping the drum in various ways, running your finger along the edge, changing the sound of the note with your hand, etcI feel like it's more "deep" than anything a DAW could produce without MORE skill than it would take to learn the handpannow is a handpan expensive for an instrument that can only play 11 notes? yea it is. but it's also...really cool....
>>217709888if you plan to impress new-age/liberal college woman then yes

>>217710417>spiritual musicAssuming that means new age slop, yeah, sure.>>217710590There are definitely synthesis techniques that can recreate or at least approximate those kinds of sounds, but true, it does require much greater skill. Though you could also recreate a lot of those tactile sounds by simply recording yourself touching any other kind of metal container, no handpan really needed, while the pitch content is also easily recreated by simply a bell spectrum with a stronger fundamental.
>>217711375I have an arturia keystep but I've never used it before. any advice on learning how to use this thing to make beautiful music like any tutorials or something idk
