it has to be something like listening to Barenaked Ladies or Rush in your truck after picking up Tim Hortons on the way to your kid's hockey practice

At worst, leaf culture is just mutt culture under a different flag and at best is just apart of a broader Anglo culture specific to this continent, if we really want to throw them bone.

If you grew up poor in this cunt there's a strong likelihood that you didn't have cable and didn't have access to stations like Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon and had to watch the "cheap Canadian stuff" i.e. Canadian cartoons like Angela Angola and Willa's Wild Life, which I did.

Saying that, there was never a moment where I went "Oh wow, yeah, this is foreign." And mind you, the Canadian government actually have policies in place where "Canadianness" and "Canadian culture" is pushed in their domestic media, which these cartoons were. And of all the cultural in-jokes that were supposed to be in these cartoons, none flew over my head. And on the occasion it did like whenever some leaf specific food was mentioned, I basically just viewed it in the same light as I would with some other region specific dish like clam chowder or a peanut butter fluff sandwich.

And funnily enough, the only time I did feel a leaf show was especially foreign when I was young like in the case of Jacob Two-Two or Just For Gags it was because it was actually Quebecois lol

asking anyone what their culture is and expecting a good answer is just a cringey attempt at a "gotcha" moment
>>
there is no real national Canadian culture, as has been pointed out several times your local canadian culture is generally going to match whichever US bioregion is adjacent. canadian west coast culture (+ jeets) is the same as the US', prairies match eachother, etc. only a few areas are truly unique, such as Quebec
