I've noticed that in the west, people who are scared of spiders are a lot more common than people who are scared of lizards (that look like picrel). The opposite is true in my country, every third person I meet is scared shitless of lizards (including me). On the other hand, I've met maybe a dozen women in my life who are afraid of spiders. Those colorful geckos that I see on Discovery channel are cute tho, unfortunately the ones that infest your homes are these beige, ugly, dull looking ones.
>>217731942i understand that these fuckers are helpful but their skin is dry, soft, and cold, which is a disgusting combination.
he lives somewhere in my house
>>217731942Interesting
the range for lizards is pretty small here. brown and green anoles and house geckos are an ambient part of life, i’ve never met anyone who scared of them
>>217731942I think we have two lizards the one is small and well known the other doesnt have legs and some people think its snake and are scared
>>217732111Only mohammedans hate this lil fella
>>217731942We don't really have many lizards and they are rarely seenThe only spiders I hate are brown recluse since they can cause necrosisI've even picked up black widows before and luckily never been biten
>>217732191How do you not feel disgusted looking at and touching that shit? Looks like a mini snake with legs.
>>217731942Why would someone be afraid of lizards? Spiders are venomous while lizards aren't
>>217732505Nearly 100% of spiders you'll encounter will be non venomous anyway. It's a matter of innate disgust.
>>217732505Muhammad said if you kill geckos you get a blessing from Allah.
>>217731942One of them got into my house yesterday, very small, about 5cm (2in) head to tip of the tailThey're cute, no one's afraid of themOn the contrary, maybe 80% of women and 40% of men are scared of spidersAlthough cockroaches are the scariest common bugs here
>>217731942Geckos are based and cute and keep your walls and porch free of insects. I got to see one gobble up a gnat one time.
>>217731942Yeah I guess it's true over here at least. I don't mind either personally however, I even think spiders are sorta cute
>>217732504they are called Yamori (ヤモリ/ 家守) home guardI also keep a big spider somewhere in my house
>>217732751Handsome
>>217732549Yeah but then that 1% will absolutely kill you, whilst lizards are completely harmlessBesides the fact that spiders are insects and insects are yucky in general
>>217731942Spiders and lizards are fine. I don't fuck with snakes though. >>217732860ummm actuachly spiders are arachnids
>>217732191cutiei have some lizards living in my front garden bed
>>217731942we call those lagartixas, they are cute and hunt nasty bugs. i dont fear either anyway
>>217731942Every home is made better with a resident lizard
>>217734488same can be said about spiders
>>217731942Lizards are not only adorable but useful. They keep the bug, mainly cockroach, numbers low.Anyone who kills them is a certified retard.
Huh? Spiders are evil and disgusting. Lizards just kind of chill on their own usually, geckos are the only ones that go inside houses, and they’re only down south, not in Poland. I can understand not wanting to have one inside your home, but they’re not harmful, and they kill spiders and other bugs.
>>217731942Why would you be scared of a lizard though? They're harmlessSpiders in the other hand can kill you (some of them)
>>217731942In my experience, fear of lizards is most common in Asian countries where they are traditionally regarded as unlucky. In countries with less cultural interest in luck, omens, fortune, etc., they’re more popular, or at least less reviled. The reptiles that Westerners are most likely to fear are those associated with danger, mostly snakes, and alligators/crocodiles. These can theoretically kill people. Not sure about arachnophobia. In my four-person household, two of us find spiders frightening, or at least repugnant, and two of us think they’re pretty cool. This is probably partially because of perceived danger (a small number of venomous spiders can be harmful to humans), and partially just because some people just think they look ugly or move in ways that they find unpleasant. I’m guessing that in cultures where spiders are associated with benign legends/mythology, arachnophobia would be much rarer. I have a vague idea that there are positive folktales about spiders out there, but I remember zero details.
>>217731942Cute little fella
>>217731942Lizards cannot inject you with venom and the salamanders that are poisonous were created to be bright and colorfull so you dont touch them
>>217731942They keep roaches at bay so theyre based
>>217731942We mostly don't have lizards. Also reptiles aren't scary, only snakes are.Plus spiders are more likely to be dangerous.
I'll never understand why are some people scared by them, they're harmless and look so cute. I always save them my from cat
>>217741008>We mostly don't have lizardsWho is we nigga? they are everywhere in the summer and I live in the north
>>217731942I live in Florida and get lizards like that in my house all the time. I'm thankful to have them around because they eat all the shitty nigger bugs. That said, I also find their dried out corpses all the fucking time which is annoying. I used to try and catch them and let them out, but there's so many of them I can't really be fucked these days.As for spiders, I tolerate them for the same reasons, but they're definitely more unsettling.
>>217732549That's just not true at all; there is literally only one family of spider that is not venomous. The majority of bites won't be deadly, but it'll leave a nasty bite that can get inflected really easily, plus they often carry diseases.
