Almost every country in the world teaches English at schools for young children, but its hard to say its effective at all.

Saw this scene on takagi san, I know its anime, but isn't this a retard way to teach another language?

People make fun of indians, but they at least are able to speak and understand English a little, I can't even say that Brasil is any better, we simply learnt nothing at all in our English classes, and we also have them since birth, there's even a joke that all English classes we have in our childhood can be reduced to the "to be" verb, My english is not that great, but i didn't learn it in school, my real professor was Tibia and Runescape in the golden days, usually Brazilians just learn "placebo" Englsih. Non americans, do any of you learn anything useful in your English classes? I think there's no point into needing a teacher teaching you like that, young brains can absorb language much better and can learn at a much faster rate by just consuming american media, English classes in schools are sure a waste of time, people can't even turn into ESLs with them.
