Chile wasn't a real colony, but a defensive point, to stop Brits and the Dutch. For example, Chile got its first university 200 years later compared to Peru, it should tell you how irrelevant as a "colony" it was.

Argentina was way more important and a full-fledged colony, not as much as Peru and Mexico but still.

Mendoza is 1,000 km from Buenos Aires. Its economy is more connected to the Pacific than it's metropoli, and it was part of Chile for 200 years.

Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia were divided, and that's all you need to know.
