japanese researchers at the university of Tsukuba created Circulafloor for VR
why are japanese like this? overcomplicating simple shit
omnidirectional treadmills exist. These robots are just an overengineered solution to something that has already been solved.

the real question is why would you want to physically run to move your charavter inside a videogame? imagine playing skyrim like this

just ride a horse

They can't simulate stairs.

This will most likely be used for theme parks.

immersion. Are you that lazy you cant walk?

i think this is THE solution but like 20 years from now not in the near future. you're gonna have a super-lightweight vr headset (lighter than current sunglasses) and stepping on robot arms that position themselves according to shit in the VR world + items in the vr world like door handles. its still interesting to explore early a lot of current VR tech for example was explored in small scale experiments decades before

I genuinely don't understand why anyone is bothering to invest money and time into developing this stuff when it's obvious all of the money in VR is going to come from immersive porn.

The first company to develop an affordable sex robot to accompany AI-generated real time VR porn is going to simultaneously make billions of dollars while causing the complete collapse of the human race. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, basically just a silicon skin over a robotic exoskeleton which the VR system can track to the AI-generated porn to form a visual/sensory connection between the simulated and physical worlds. People won't play video games any more at that point, they won't do anything. They're just stay in bed fucking their perfect AI sex doll that can do or be anything they want.

Someone tell those retards that threadmills been a thing for a while

treadmills don't use steps, and step mills can't change horizontal direction and stairway direction(going up and then down)

I think the next meta is just transitioning from static vr porn videos to gaussian splatter 3d scenes you can walk around and something like in the op could work with that. But i dont see many people using it

>But i dont see many people using it
The only reason you think this is because people don't openly talk about porn. Everyone consumes porn, way more than you think. Women's smut has virtually revived physical bookstores here in the US.
If you could make this stuff easy to use and affordable, it's going to be used by everyone. Everyone wants to have the ability to simulate their craziest desires, it's just that the means to do that doesn't exist yet.
