South America is so close to Africa. How come the Africans didn't discover it first?
>>217773835africans couldn't sail even to fucking Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe when the portuguese reached these islands, which were completely uninhabitedthe portuguese were absolute retards for not taking these islands.
"Close" is a relative term. It's still 3000km away on the narrowest point. Africans didn't even discover Madagascar, despite it being right next to the African coast
>>217773907>>217773916Why not? Were the Africans incapable of making the same technological progress as the Europeans? Why would that be?
>>217773934on a bright side they actually CAN travel to europe nowadays
>>217773835if the legends are true, they actually did discover it, it's just that none have come back to really do anything with it
>>217773835Dude, Africans didn't even discover Madagascar.
>>217773916I thought Madagascar had some blackpipo and the I like to move it move it lemurs
Bantu Africans didn't even reach Madagascar until Arab slavers brought them there, by which point Austronesians were already settled.
>>217773907>the portuguese were absolute retards for not taking these islands. They did retard.>>217773916>>217774062>Africans didn't even discover Madagascar, despite it being right next to the African coastIt'a had human presence on it for ages prior to the Borneon migration to it. Even the folklore of the Malagasy said they encountered some people.>>217773934Sailing isn't some easy shit. It takes a ton of research, estimates, mapping and massive risk taking. Portugal was always a Marine state and had a deep background with it. The discovery of the route to up and down the Western African coast was pretty piecemeal and even some of the islands were surprises to Portguese navigators.
>>217774125>They did retard.yeah, that's the reason these islands are full of portuguese now, imbecile.
>>217774083>Bantu Africans didn't even reach Madagascar until Arab slavers brought them thereWho told you that?
>>217774138>the portuguese were absolute retards for not taking these islands.Implies that they didn't take it. Do you not read your own English?
>>217774159I mean, taking it definitively, with their own people, saar.
>>217774125>It takes a ton of research, estimates, mapping and massive risk takingSo are you saying the Africans were not capable of this?
>>217774191Considering Western Africa has few natural ports and interior/riverine trade and statea being more relevant than coastal ones tips the scales. Even aptitude in naval navigation wasn't level among Europe. Some were better at it than others. Eastern Africa had more coastal trade and navigation going on.
>>217773835Mali tried
>>217773835Blacks lacked the technology to make advanced ships. They also had no reason to ever think of going in that direction. Europeans had the technology and the motivation to go west in search of a different route to India.
>>217774189They did. Who do you think lives in Cabo Verde right now?
>>217773835Blacks lacked the ability to build galleons, organize into societies let alone have farming
>>217774247are you really that stupid or just a troll?
>>217774272>organize into societies let alone have farming?
>>217773961>if the legends are trueWhat legend? Africans did not set foot in the Americas until they were brought over as slaves by Europeans.
>>217774224If they were at all capable they would have. They were not capable.
>teehee black people never discovered madagascar black people didn't arrive in mozambique until around 300 only some 200 years before austronesians arrived in madagascar. why the FUCK would they sail to madagascar when they hadn't even filled the mainland?>teehee black people didn't discover cape verdecape verde is a shithole >teehee black people don't know how to swim or build boatshow did they get to bioko then, retards
>>217774138I thought they were portuguese too but apparently they're Africans, it was hard to tell the difference
>>217774275cape verdeans are mulatto rape babies like brazilians
>>217773835It takes a lot of specific conditions for a civilization to turn a switch and basically go "yes I'll just sail straight for months or years into the unknown"
>>217774325>If they were at all capable they would have.Navigation and sailing isn't an instant effort. Even the Canary Islands and Iceland were pretty recent discoveries and Iceland was right nearby with the Canaries being proximate to Morrocco and to a lesser extent Iberia.>They were not capable.Again it's all speculation. We don't know if they did have a way to travel to that specific set of islands or just didn't chance upon it. There were other islands nearby that had Africans settle them like Fernando Po.
itt paradoxtards who think technology is just a linear progression and you unlock lateen sails automatically if your faction has enough science points
hella timmis talking shit knowing damn well they couldnt get nowhere in their own cities without turning on waze
>>217773835Well there was the supposed Malian attempt Abu Bakr I think?
>>217774138The Portuguese did settle there. They just sexed their slaves and created a new race.
>>217774490Yeah found ithttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_voyage_of_the_predecessor_of_Mansa_MusaSupposedly they turned back after most of the ships were lost in some really rough waters that sound an awful lot like the type of currents you get at the mouth of the Amazon.
>>217774142The experts
Africans never left the African continentOther humans had much more ingenuity and left and conquered and migrated onto eurasia but negroes didn'tThey remained in the archaic human homeland, Picking berries, behaving like primitive humans Every development on archeology begins after the out of Africa humans settle eurasiaThe ones that stood behind spend 300k years without discovering he wheel and others leaving wasnt going to change thatOut of Africa simply confirms blacks are he most archaic humans
>>217774321in the more obscure history, I don't remember exactly, but during the mali empire times, there was an expedition that went westI read it a long time ago, and I don't know if it's the mali empire even, but there was a story of people attempting to go there before spanish
>>217773835They couldn’t even discover the islands close to them.Canary Islands: Berbers and later Spaniards Cape Verde: Portuguese São Tomé and Príncipe: Portuguese Madagascar: Malagasy and AustronesianRéunion: FranceSeychelles: Portuguese and Austronesian Comoros: AustronesianMauritius: ArabsSocotra: Greeks and Arabs
>>217773934Europe, SEA and China had tutorial seas right next door they could practice at no cost, SSA africans face the deep ocean
>>217774843Again, Africans did not set in the Americas before they were brought here as slaves, i.e. there is no evidence of African presence in the Americas until they were brought over as slaves. No archeological evidence, no DNA evidence.
>>217773835africans didn't have enough time to develop their civilization like europeans
