>matriarch refused to ever get a licence, so weak father has to drive her around every day
>one day gf brings me to a big meal to meet a dozen or so of her close old friends
>the loudest, most difficult group of 30 year old NPCs i’ve met in my entire life
>marvel, funko pops, warhammer, etc etc
>one guy shows off his new anime tattoo to the group while his fiancee visibly cringes
>every time something vaguely funny is said, they scream and thump the table and click their fingers
>the table interrogates me for the story of how my gf and i got together, asking crazy personal questions
>“we talked about this last night on our group chat”
>i’ve met plenty of filipinos before, and i’m normally reasonably socially adaptable, but i feel like i’m suffocating here
>when we’re leaving, someone says “see you next time, i hope we didn’t scare you off!”
>gf doesn’t really get what went wrong
>i break things off with gf about three weeks later
I have quite seriously never felt more anglo in my entire life than during this foray into filipino life.
The break-up wasn’t just over this, but there is absolutely no way I could marry into such a goofy, kiddish culture, and have babies with made-up names like Andreeno and Lindarelda and Jhun-pow and Babygirlie.
How the fuck does One Nation voter Baz (65) live with all this?
