Yeah but bone structure is very accurate at portraying what "race" a person.
The people who originally described her as "black" were either incredibly incompetent or were deliberately trying to push a certain narrative. Most likely both now that I think about it.

It's ironic because there's a racist undercurrent to it. They seek to consolidate the British identity of non-white people by incorperating them into British history, even if it means massively exaggerating their presence. By doing that however, they're implicitly saying that a racial group's place in British society is more legitimate if that group has a longer history in Britain.

Perhaps with reduced accuracy, but it's not impossible. DNA degrades, yes, but not at that extreme rate. The full neanderthal genome, for example, which is much older than this, has been sequenced

Only to an extent. We actually had a similar case where there was an attempt to claim the oldest skeleton found in South America came from Africa because the skull had "negroid" characteristics, but DNA testing showed that person had in fact come from Asia like other amerindians.

International Finance ("The Money Power", if you're nasty) has a history of dragging Europe into disastrous ventures.
Some posit that a fractured and "multicultural" populace means that certain groups become less "visible", and so can live without the scrutiny of the majority.
