Hey /int/ friends, can we have a wholesome thread to get into the holiday spirit? What are some christmas practices you like in your country? The snowman cartoon is pretty popular here and people often go to christmas sauna. My favorite christmas memories are probably getting out of the sauna and having christmas dinner set ready when I get back, or seeing snow fall outside of my window when everything's dark except for all the christmas lights and candles.
I also really like "silent night" song even though I know that's pretty basic.

I always thought it was odd that Russia had such different christmas culture, is that an orthodox thing or a soviet era thing?
>>217804105
Christmas was originally a pagan holiday, so it seems everyone likes it.

Orthodox Christmas is in January and nobody really actually celebrates it. We celebrate the New Year's eve because commies broke the Christmas tradition.

I remember we used to have threads about this every year, comfy arson threads

It's still standing right now, someone should do something about that

It's Orthodox thing, because they don't use Gregorian calendar or something, so 25th December in old calendar is the 7th January in the modern one.
But some OrthoDOGS (Greece, Romania and some others) switched to Catholic way for Christmas and celebrate it on 25th December.

And like anon above wrote we barely celebrate it in any way. Here it's 31December-1st January is being celebrated the most as the New Year.
