driving "only" 5 km to charge up, wait for a few hours doing nothing, then driving home is considered "good" coverage
>>

here there's "good" coverage as long as only a small minority uses smartphones on wheels

I know a lot of people who have electric cars and they just charge at home and at work. They don't use charging stations. Seems nice if you have that, a bit annoying have to drive stop by a station on my way to or from work

most people i know charge their car at home overnight. there's plans you can get from the electric company where you get a discount at night specifically for that.

thats the whole advantage of such cars you can move the energy around much faster so why not charge at home

We have these charging stations for parking lots. We already had engine heater plugs which give some lectric but not enough if everyone does that. Now an increasing number of apartment complexes have upgraded them so they have the capacity to charge electric cars.

I think they were being facetious but isn't the answer for every country different since everyone uses a different mix of electricity sources

That's from two years ago though. Solar is growing very quickly since it very recently became much more efficient and cheap as hell.
