There's something about mixed "Byzantine+Ottoman" architecture and aesthetics that is irresistible to me. I blame Assassin's Creed Revelations being set in Istanbul that gave me this fascination.

My dad is likely a war criminal.

He is a normal person though and you'd never guess it. And he did not raise me to hate other people and he doesn't hate them either.
I'm not sure if he actually did anything evil but he was part of some unit that did it considering he can't enter Bosnia.
>>
>>217813301
Powerful people are often normal. The loudest /=/ the strongest.
>>
>>217813352
I wouldn't say doing evil shit makes you powerful, but your mental clarity and physical ability.
>>
>>217813380
And resources. And “mental clarity” can also extend to networking with people etc but that’s a given.

Fighting for Yugoslavia or Greater Serbia isn’t evil tho

I ain't fighting for these retards. World 35 years ago looked much different so I can see why he fought for it. I never talked to him about war, but I know what he'd tell me.
>>
>>217813829
You should talk to your father about the war before he gets his memory gets weaker due to old age
>>
>>217813857
Every person is different, maybe if there is a moment I'll ask him, but if he wanted to open up, he would, and if he doesn't want to open up, he should then deal with it internally. He once told me he'll tell me about it when I get older.

Things here are different, people are usually not running around on podcasts talking about the war like in the western countries, at least not those that participated in it directly. I think he and others just moved on, it might sound shocking to us but he has to pay the bills and do life shit and being in the war several decades ago doesn't change that.
>>
>>217813916
Nah, if you were actually enthusiastic he’d be happy to tell you. You are just an NPC normgroid historylet like most.
>>
>>217814012
>Hey pops I am very enthusiastic for you to tell me about something you probably deeply regret you've done, are traumatised by and to remind you of the faces you killed
Different cultures/families. I'd rather talk about an interesting book, movie or something else with him. I might ask him for curiosity's sake one day. Poor guy probably just regrets it because he realised in whose service he fought for, and I think he's happy he has kids and that that he didn't catch a bullet.
>>
>>217814186
And listen dude he works for an international company doing meetings with representatives from all our former/current enemies so if he has moved on why the fuck would I care so much? What's your logic here.
>>
Serbs are even touchier than East Asians. Every time I go on Serbian social media it's just them whining about being historically raped by xyz. The "my dad is a war criminal" song (which has been reddit for years now btw) paints an unbothered image of them, which is fake
>>
>>217814361
Yea true there's bipolarity here, those people who buy into this kind of thinking are unbothered about war and shit if they're holding a beer in their hand otherwise it's whining (not that you're any different though in another angle, but maybe to a lesser degree but I can't be certain since I don't live in Croatia). I don't think immediate neighbours who speak the same language and consume the same information/media can be drastically different.

But considering my one grandmother that watches TV always preferred HRT channel compared to ours because they show more normnal and educational stuff, maybe there is a difference, at least in what each country actively promotes.

>I got a watch, I got a gun, I got jewelry, I got a watch, I got a gun, I got jewelry
there's a lot of Serbian rap songs on this topic. Serbs are generic materialistic gold chain and tracksuit-wearing Slavs like Russians and their women are accordingly plastic bimbos in leopard striped dresses.
