Racial epithets on the other hand have sticking power because they remind non-Europeans that they are "the other" in European society - even one as negrified and judiazed as the United States. It's reminding them that they're inferior to Europeans, and that they don't belong, which is why it makes them go fucking apeshit to be reminded of their status, which, all the equality laws, positive discrimination, and momentary wealth in the world can't change. A jeet is a jeet whether he's a dalit sweeping the gutters of Bombay or a brahman CEO in Silicon Valley with money and izzat beyond his wildest dreams, and calling him a jeet is just a harsh reminder of that. It's also why the myriad attempts at making a racial epithet to apply to white people fall flat - it's impossible to make fun of someone who's better than you. It's like at school - people make fun of poor kids, but trying to make fun of rich kids doesn't have the same impact.
