I have noticed some interesting trends with the Dominican Republic. There aren't as many Dominicans trying to move (legally or illegally) to the US as in the past. Also, the number of Dominicans sneaking into nearby Puerto Rico, Colomnia or Venezuela has fallen off a lot, and Puerto Ricans, Colombians and Venezuelans are actually moving to the DR these days as often as the reverse.Santo Domingo has gotten a lot of investment money over the past couple decades, and is quite a bit more modernized and built-up than it used to be.What is the DR's future? Can it continue holding itself together and being relatively prosperous despite being chained to Haiti?
