>The federal government this week released updated guidance on its assisted dying framework, expanding eligibility criteria in ways officials describe as “clarifications” rather than changes, despite the practical effect of including additional vulnerable populations—most notably state wards without guardians and seniors over the age of 65 whose eligibility is now presumed unless actively contested.

Both my parents died from cancer and their last days were miserable. They hated going through it and what's worse, they hated being a 'burden', in their words.

I'm not going through that. Once I'm old enough and sick, I'm going out that way.

Something interesting about ecosystems is that competition is almost always unproductive, yet in our artificial world we're told it drives everything. More people=more competition yet the more people we get the less productive everything is. If Canada is getting to the point where they want the Soylent Green suicide pods to be real then they should at least address the real issue whatever it may be. Lack of energy resources? Food? Infrastructure? Declining quality of life? If there's a desire to thin the population at least outline what the thesis is for doing so.

Why did you pick Canada specifically? A country that actually has legal assisted suicide?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euthanasia_in_Canada
>Euthanasia in Canada or assisted suicide first became legal in Canada in June 2016 for those whose death was reasonably foreseeable.[1] Its legal form is termed Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD, also spelled MAID) in Canada. Before this time, it was illegal as a form of culpable homicide. In March 2021, the law was further amended by Bill C-7 to include those suffering from a grievous and irremediable condition whose death was not reasonably foreseeable.[2]
>There have been 76,475 MAID deaths reported in Canada since the introduction of legislation in 2016.[8]
It's definitely not common, but 76000 is nothing to scoff at.

Why are you using a shooped image? I can't find such article on CBC, and the suicide pod is a dead giveaway since that's a Swiss technology for most efficient suicide, and no such efficiency is allowed in Canada's healthcare system, it needs hours of unnecessary labour hours by doctors and nurses billed to the health system.

your epic bait makes no sense though, because this country is literally working towards allowing mentally ill people, alzheimers patients, and what they call 'MATURE MINORS' to be murdered by the state.

https://globalnews.ca/news/9491605/maid-minors-canada-medically-assisted-dying-committee-report/

>Canada’s assisted dying laws should be expanded to include minors, a parliamentary committee has recommended in a report tabled in the House of Commons.

>After hearing from nearly 150 witnesses and reviewing more than 350 briefs on Canada’s medically assisted dying (MAiD) program, the special joint committee of MPs and senators concluded that minors deemed to have the appropriate decision-making capacity should be eligible for assisted death.

there have also been multiple cases of people who suicided because there was no adequate medical care for their rare condition, or they were just broke and depressed about it.

this is why your bait makes no sense and also isn't funny, because reality is darker than your fiction.

> not making line go up
you mean sucking up vast amounts of crucial resources (housing and healthcare being the top 2) while not making line go up to accommodate that. All while voting for policies that harm younger people, so they don't have to pay marginally more in taxes or change anything about their lives in any way
>>
>>217854838
How would it have worked at any other time in human history? That isn't to say such programs should be eliminated all together, or euthanasia should be widespread, but being a burden on the system isn't good
>>
>>217858989
All state has to do is contract construction and build more to fix the housing crisis, they clearly just don't want more people and are looking for a way to say it indirectly. It's a lot easier to frame anti-growth as anti-immigration when all you need to do is create fake jobs and public works projects to occupy people. If there's genuine resource scarcity in Canada of all places I'd be surprised.
>>
>>217855774
what about it is horrible anon? I guess immigration is lower on the list than it should be

> all state has to do is contract construction and build more

well unfortunately, older people aren't known to be big on libertarian zoning practices. Whether on a state level, or just town meetings being dominated by older people with nothing else to do but advocate for preserving the world the way it was when they were 22

As for the resource scarcity, it's not about timber or iron, but time. If only X percent of the working population are doctors, and a population becomes increasing old (and thus demanding an increasing amount of the resource), then you have supply slowly dropping and demand rapidly increasing. Not unsolvable, but it's not like older people are big advocates for this either
>>
>>217859131
*preserve the world it was when they were 22

and preserve the value of their own investment too of course
