Wasted potential the countries
>populations close to or over 100 million
>declining birth rates
>utter shitholes
>political history is just one kleptocrat after another
>gold, iron, rare metals, petroleum, but all squandered
>no hope of becoming a developed country in even 50 years time
Of these the best countries to live in are Indonesia with Brazil coming in as a close second

Yeah sure my entire country is a shithole. Tell me more about my country.

It's just a border away to illegally cross to the US

Jokes aside, Mexico is more industrialized and seemed to be more politically stable and pragmatic

Indonesia is finally on the fast developing country train. My guess is the rapid adoption of 5g internet finally connected all the thousands of islands for commerce and information transfer. They are emerging as an economic force to counterbalance China in the region with their 100 million domestic customer base. This is good news for Malaysia and ASEAN in general. A huge newly emerging middle class market right next door for us to sell stuff to. Here's to Indonesia's success in 2026!

Indonesia is doing fine and shouldn't be on this map.

Brazil is also doing fine for a Latinx country. They're slowly building industries and improving. Just look at all the seethe about Mercosur.

Mexico is a wasted potential. They should be doing much better considering their proximity to the US. Cartels ruined the country.

Egypt and India have too many structural problems to even have potential. It's not completely over but they need to fix them first, and it's not an easy task.

Nigeria, I don't think anyone seriously expected anything from it. Just being stable is enough.

Not compared to what Russia could have been. A reformed Russian Empire / Soviet Union could have been on par with the US and China. If only they could have solved their corruption problem, agreed on an entente with the US and Europe, diversified their economy more, kept the soviet republics from leaving, and wasn't so oppressive to the iron curtain nations.

Are we deadass right now

Indonesia isn't doing too bad. This is simply because they aren't doing anything really stupid unlike everyone else on the list.

You have to be a midwit to club us in with those countries.

Politically and economically, Phillipines is the only country there which is somewhat similar to us, but they didn't go through decades of horrible socialism inspired mismanagement that was the licence raj.

>Brazil and Mexico in the same category of India and Nigeria
Unitedstatesian is watching too much cartel and favela movies

Even their politicians occasionally get killed or kidnapped by drug cartels. Mexico stand at the top of the list at the murder of journalists.
>"That's fine. I just stay the hell away from drug dealing and politics."
Not so fast.
>"Many would-be recruits were lured to the ranch under false pretenses, authorities have said, via social media ads for false job opportunities. But once at the ranch, those who refused to be trained and recruited into the ranks of the cartel, or those who tried to escape the site, were tortured or killed."
>>
Mexico is fairly above those other countries me think, in term of average quality of life. It could become honorary firstie if it got rid of cartels

I don't know much about Indonesia but based on street walking videos their countryside seems to be poorer than ours but their cities seem to be more modern than ours.

>>218051552
if this country was ever good it was despite the land, not because of it

>counterbalance China
its chinese are investing there
see chinese investments recent times in Indonesia
because Chinese companies seeking to avoid U.S. tariffs and secure critical minerals for their EV industry like nickel

If you like Mexico just bring up per capita next time

>Egypt
With supply chains getting more regionalized and Egyptian (or MENA in general) youth bulge getting into the workforce Soon™, they have a chance to get better, considering their proximity to the EU.
