HI i am pretty sure many people here use their normal keyboards, but write in japanese by changing the language settings. So how do you write こんばんは or こんにちは ? because I need to actually type は instead of wa. Is that normal? Do people just accepted that it is spelled as わ, written as は, so they just write ko-ni-chi-ha?

hey guys how do you pronounce ジャ, ジュ, ジョ? do you say jya jyu jyo or ja ju jo?Been reading tae kim lately and at first it says that you should pronounce them as jya jyu jyo since they are the /y/ consonant sound, but later on when you read about the small vowels attached to consonants in order to make new sounds (ja ji ju je jo), the guide will tell you that its ja ju jo instead, which leaves me confused but it seems that ja ju jo is how japs normally pronounce it since jya jyu jyo is for old shit that nobody no longer uses? is that true?

Being able to recognize different readings and meanings of around 1200 kanji a year is doable. You dont learn kanji and then start learning the language, just read the guide

All japanese letters with an "i" sound are naturally palatal consonants.This is important, because if you have ever looked at a japanese alphabet chart, you would see that they group all the s-sound characters together サシスセソ, but where "si" should be, there is a "shi", and there is something similiar with the t-sound characters (chi), and the z sound characters (ji)See, the s,z and t sounds are made with the tongue against the alveolar ridge, and that means that its impossible to pronounce them palatally. What happens is the tongue gets forced forward and the sound becomes a bit fuzzier. That's what explains the weird Hepburn translations.So, in order to properly pronounce ジャ like a native japanese person:>go to pronounce a "za" sound>try and pronounce a "y" sound at the same time with the "z">notice how your tongue moves forward and its easier to pronounce as an affricate (djya)
Similar questions have probably been asked a gorillion times, but is pitch accent important to study if you don't care about speaking, just understanding Japanese content? Because I feel like I'm doing fine with listening comprehension without having studied pitch accent. Also, some pitch accent guide linked here recommended the Western youtuber by the name Dogen. Are there good ways to study pitch accent without listening to his stuff at all?
