DJT is a language learning thread for those studying the Japanese language.
Japanese speakers learning English are welcome, too.

Read the guide linked below before asking how to learn Japanese:

クリスマスにお出かけした時「私と結婚する気あるん?ないなら別れてね」って言われてしまった。
30になると女って焦るんかな?

ワイはまだ結婚する気ないし、マッチングアプリでもやるか~

Components of the kanji can have a phonetic and semantic role, and there's some cases where if you see a given component, you can improve your guesses of readings at least by learning about them
I know this much is true, but I'm not too sure of a good resource for this info. RTK3 is about heisig's version of the idea

Haven't been here in a really long time, but there was a web link pasted in one of the DJT threads for a website that didn't host visual novel downloads but instead listed its Japanese difficulty and reading length. It was super helpful but I didn't bookmark it. It was as dense as the itazuraneko web archive but this site was mainly used for beginners trying to figure out which Japanese visual novel was most suitable for their proficiency level. Does anyone remember the site?

The Hobbit.
Whenever I see studies of how illiterate people are it usually says they can only read at an x grade level so you may be able to find books written at a 6th/7th/8th grade level if you look.

Outside of the time it takes to learn kanji and all how hard is Japanese really?
>>
>>218211069
That would probably depend on your teacher/your self studying methods
>>
>>218211346
Like does Japanese have any weird grammatical stuff?
I know the sentence structure's different
>>
>>218211574
Unlike every other language, how weird japanese is can also depend on your teacher/study methods.

I'm not kidding and it should be no surprise that the language that has the most autistic people learning it has the most autism concerning learning methods. Not to mention that every person learning it wants to learn it by themselves in their basement.

I found the climb up to being able to read something I like at an acceptable speed the hardest part. The kanji isn't the issue there with a pop up dictionary, more it's convincing your brain to make sense of the word spaghetti
The hours you put in do the heavy lifting really, so once you can read something for fun it's not such a big deal even if you suck
Anyway I don't think it's difficult as such but it is time consuming

有生性(Animacy)について

Hit などの動詞の目的語としては、人間に対しては体の部分よりも人間自体をとる方が一般的で、物体に対しては全体ではなく具体的な部分をとる。
「私は彼の顔を殴った」I hit his head.とI hit him on the head.はどちらも誤りではないが、後者がよい。
「私はドアのノブを叩いた」はI hit the door's knob.が正しく、
I hit the door on the knob.は正しくない。

結構面白い
