I thought about it for a moment, and it's probably that the cosplay shit is highly derivative. You have to be your oc. It's okay if your oc is some kind of nurse dressed in a cheap mass produced pvc uniform. I just get a visceral reaction to using an established character in manners that character would not behave. I also despise fanfic, so there's no winning with cosplay.
