Why didn't these extraction colonies band together and form a proper country? After France and Glorious Napoleon granted them their independence.

Brazil ruined it for everybody on the continent with their mongrel complex.

It’s funny how they never learn: always against the wall, always getting punched. When will they learn to fight?

Because we don't have a resource or infrastructure or economic issue.
Or issue is fundamentally social: we are mutt societies with a European descended ruling class and a indigenous/black underclass and both of these are antipathetic to each other

Which means there is no unified national project but a competition to undermine the other and enslave them

Peru and Bolivia got together: failed
Ecuador, Colombia, and Panama got together: failed
Colombia then seperated itself into Colombia and Venezuela

this is nuts

>Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay were part of the same vicerroy
>the revolutionary movement for it started in Argentina
>Uruguay was initially on board but they lost trust on it, they felt that we were just replacing extractive Spanish Elites with extractive Buenos Aires Elites
>Paraguay outright fought against a revolutionary army that showed up from Buenos Aires, and stood with Spain... and after a while they changed their mind and wanted independence, but they also decided they didn't trust Buenos Aires either
>Bolivia was crawling with Spanish troops, Peru being one of their main hubs of operation
>border with Chile is like twice the height of the Alps, logistics is a bitch, can't annex a country if you can't march an army to put down an insurrection
we very much tried to gobble all the land that we could, main reason is almost always a combination of "people in country A don't trust that people in country B have their best interest in mind" and "the geography is way too fucked up for country B to move an army and annex country A by force"
even then, the smaller countries in the region, bar Caribbean islands, are still often larger than the average european cunt

Punched?

The government installed in 1964 was nationalistic and not American vassals lol. Oil was kept fully nationalized, new state companies were created like Embraer or Embrapa, clandestine nuclear weapons program started, the market was super protectionist, the government invested in national industry and didn't open their ass to gringos. The Americans barely did anything to help their coup too, they just gave intel and diplomatic support to the military faction that already had been trying to coup the government for a decade at that point.

Honestly, I think the coupists really did fool Americans to earn support there.

oh, also, a lot of Argentinian provinces were also pretty dissatisfied with Buenos Aires too, the government in BA was constantly sending small armies to quell down militias and insurrections all over the place, there wasn't even an "Argentinian" identity yet
there quite literally wasn't enough men in the military to do everything

at one point one of our best military commanders just took an entire army and decided he had to march all the way to Peru, the government in BA was fuming, sending him letters to return to his post and put down some local rebellions that cropped up, or they'd hang him, but he continued campaigning abroad

We need an american terror to kick all the failed ideologies off the continent, then expand Mercosul into something similar to the EU and eventually federalize it.

Why do you say "we", aren't most argentines today from later european migrations? I doubt you have much to do with the original colonial population
>>

because saying "the revolutionaries of early 19th century" each and every single time is a fucking mouthful, autismo, I thought people would understand the figure of speech and realized that I wasn't actually present there two centuries ago and I'm instead referring to the people of would-be-argentina of the time, but I guess I didn't account for you

I agree, countries should be given a choice between being a puppet of the United States or being forced to share a country with Brazilians.
