So many Japanese students tell me about how much they admire Italy and how they would totally love to live here. I wonder what they find so special about this shit hole where no one follows the rules. Most italians are uncultured fucks who barely know their own language.
>>218211909The ones saying that never visited Italy (and thus get Paris Syndrome when they get the chance to desu) or they're a really famous artist like Araki.
>>218211958some did visit it and some actually lived there
>>218211909The Japs have seen too many Ghibli movies and vaguely Euro themed isekai series I assume
When you live a country for a long time you take the good for granted and stop tolerating the bad, I'm sure it's true for every country to some extent
>>218211976Then I guess it's a combination of art, food and the scenery of the italian countryside, aka a romantasized version of it. Even Chinese people have the same affinity and I did a quick Google search and apparently they're the largest east asian group in the country.Hell, rural Italy strikes a cord with Japan because they also like the romantized idea of rural Japan.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW_cCezEHhM I guess the better question, if you can ask them, would be to mention to them what they think of Italy in terms of geography when someone mentions it. Do they mention the usual suspects like Rome and Venice or something more off the beaten path like South Tyrol or Abruzzo?
>>218212166They mention Milan and Venice most of the time, but I had students who had some life changing experience in Florence and I live right next to that city
>>218211909Japan and Italy were always on the same page in the 20th century. They were both Allies in World War 1, then both Axis in World War 2, then they both switched back to the Western side for the Cold War. We could all use a friendship like that.
