When I was in New Zealand, I enjoyed staying in tiny middle of nowhere towns way more than I enjoyed Auckland and Christchurch. We're not talking about tourist places like Rotorua or Taupo. One of my favourites was Kaitaia (Maori shithole).

Rural areas just have SOVL.
