In the middle ages there were several days off every month but the government has been moving them to weekends or just making them non-holidays. This is not just a modern secular development, it began happening in the 17th century. I wouldn't be surprised if a similar development happens in Indonesia.

But we do get quite generous/long paid holidays from the employer. But ITT we are discussing these 'freebies' which are on top of the regular holiday so to speak. To be extremely pedantic; the only paid day off in LAW is independence day (6th of december) everything else is decided by the unions and employers in collective negotiations.
