Here's your Australian dream home bro.

$1,500,000-$2,000,000. Hour drive to the CBD or beach.

Why don't they build apartments to lower house costs?

Just buy property in a semi-rural area with a few hundred meters between homes. Still takes you an hour to get to the big city but you get freedom to do as you please and free space. Here in California it's only an extra 15-20 minutes of driving over living in the suburbs but much more rewarding. I treat my drives as my personal comfy time where I can listen to news/music/audiobooks and drink a coffee.

I never understood places like this? Why not just build apartment blocks and live in them instead? Closer to the city and cheaper. These people clearly don't care about 'muh privacy' or anything like that so there's no drawback.

it doesn't seem so bad for 4+ bedroom homes
i mean relatively speaking. you can move like 30 mins closer to the beach and you're paying the same price for 1-2 bedrooms
