Is there any other country where an average street looks so comfy and walkable? Funny how an average Asian country could look the same if they just kept the same street grid and upgraded every piece of infrastructur but they'd rather demolish entire districts and build commieblocks surrounded by 8 lane highways

>place, japan

no side walks, no greenery, waterfronts are paved over with highways, above ground utility poles, massive billboards and flashing LED signs on buildings

>no greenery
it would be better if they had more parks and not paved areas stretching for 200 km but that doesn't make them any worse
>no side walks
they're not needed anywhere, such as on narrow quiet one way 30 km/h residential streets
>above ground utility poles
true
>massive billboards and flashing LED signs on buildings
they're not on the comfy streets, they'r on the slightly less comfy main streets of the district
>waterfronts are paved over with highways
yes concrete rivers suck, at that point just put them in the pipe underground and get a linear park going overground in their place like pic rel

impressions on each?

same (in Japan). Kyoto was my favorite, everything was so pretty, specially the residential area.

I want to go to Japan to bike the residential streets one day, is it a good idea? My worry is that these streets are still used by cars so you'd have to stop and see if they're coming at intersections whereas a pedestrian doesn't have to

How is that walkable? There are no sidewalks.

Anyway, Brazil tends to be walkable in the good neighborhoods and in the small towns. The only problem is many cities are just too hot.

warsaw is very flat, the sidewalks are better for walking I feel but this might be recency bias because I was there in last summer and tokyo in summer of 23’.
Tokyo has better transit but it’s not a fair comparison when you compare sizes.

Thing, Japan isn't even a meme, they're truly superior
