long distance bus travel is the absolute lowest form of transportation here, like you'd only do it as a last resort.

Flixbus suck in western Europe
Flixbus is pretty okay in eastern Europe

t. Flixbus user

no im not even kidding. Taking the Flixbus in Germany or France is a completly different story than taking the Flixbus in Czechia or Poland.

>>
>>218402004
Flixbus has its own simulator called Fernbus, it's honestly not half bad, best coach simulator but that's not saying much
>>218402120
That's because Flixbus is targeting the premium coach experience in eastern europe, unironically. It's like the first class of bus ridding as sad as that sounds

in western europe, the drivers are jerks and the bus are dirty and how many things people forget on the bus (one forgot his phone) or when people who forget their stop.
eastern driver are better and kinder, not like that french driver I had one day who was mad because someone forgot its stop so he was screaming everyone show him their id. dude thought he was the boss or something. maybe I'm wrong? tell me if so. anyway I don't like it
>>
>>218401953
Yet it's part of the US folklore in the movies.
>>
>>218401921
Why? They're super comfy and super cheap too a buss can drive you 900km all the way to lapland for only 8 euros
Its cheaper than by train car or flying.

the GOAT bus chain here was fung wah, which was sadly shut down a decade ago because 21 of its 28 buses were deemed structurally unsafe.

I prefer it. It's cheaper and you see more compared to being in a plane or on a train.
>>218402049
I took the Greyhound from NYC to LA once because I was bored. Technically it was from Boston if you count the Flixbus to get to NYC.
Police surprisingly only came on the bus twice to arrest people, once in Joplin, MO when this woman decided to get into a fistfight with a gas station clerk after they got into an argument about something, and another time in Grants, NM when someone who boarded in Albuquerque(who I KNOW is probably somewhere on this website) got into an argument with half of the bus because some black kid was playing games on his mothers phone on full volume at like 1AM and he wanted to sleep. Eventually things escalated and he yells out "EVERYONE ON THIS BUS IS ABOUT TO FUCKING DIE" and literally SPRINTS to the drivers seat to try and hijack it. Luckily there was a locked plexiglass door in the front that blocked him from getting to the driver. Some ex-convict held him down until the police arrived (pic related).

Crazy how expensive bus travel is now that all of the Chinatown buses are gone. It's like $50 a ticket now minimum. I remember the price war was so bad at one point they were selling tickets for $7
>>

i kneel to america

the only flixbus story i have is:
i was travelling from disnayland paris (as part of a 36 hour journey from coventry to stuttgart DONT EVER DO THIS i just thought it would be funny (it wasn't)) to stuttgart and its like 9 hours
so in some town in bumfuck nowhere idk brussels or something some african guys and girls got in, one sat next to me
in strasbourg the police got inside the bus for a routine check.. they didn't have passports so they got off the bus with the police.. this is so sad can we get 3 (You)s?
>>
Flixbus is a total meme here. Attracts the same crowd you'd find hanging around the central station late at night when train have already stopped
>>
>>218402911
It doesn’t take too much. I took a few. I remember taking one to Germany and it only took a little more than 20 euros for one person if I remember correctly.
It’s also better to go at night when you’re sleep deprived so you sleep through the entire journey and not being bored.
>>218403061
I am brown/olive and can confirm this is true
>>218403125
I wish I took that bus back in NYC.
>>
>>218403010
Based explorer. Once I was on a bus in Oklahoma and a drunken Cherokee got on the bus, started punching people, and had to be dragged off by police. Apparently he'd just gotten off a rez prison the day before.

Another time I was leaving Detroit and some Afro-American gentlemen was making advances on the woman next to him. She complained to the driver who pulled off to the side of the highway and called the cops. After they removed said gentlemen, the negress spent the rest of the ride loudly complaining to the driver that he made them all late.

There was also a time I got seated near some raving schizo who claimed the government of Minnesota was trying to kill him and that he was running for his life from police and bounty hunters. He kept taking about this all night and would not shut up about it.

Coach travel is the true burgerpunk, the best way to experience what America has to offer.

From what I've experienced, FlixBus is normal and punctual in Europe. I've never seen anything crazy happen aside from occasional passport checks. The only thing I can remember were beggar gangs at the Bercy Seine stop in Paris who would constantly harass everyone for money.
>>218403539
It still exists as far as I'm aware. I think some of the former Fung Wah drivers actually went to FlixBus.
>>218403963
It really is the best way because you see all walks of life. People who are on the run, people who are trying to travel for as cheap as possible, people who are trying to start a new life, etc. The schizo ramblers are based because they make time pass by quickly. The drivers are funny as fuck too. I plan on going from Boston to Florida by bus this year. The other trip I want to try is a northern cross-country route through Chicago and Seattle and then take the ferry to Alaska afterwards.

Amtrak isn't as soulful/soulcrushing as the bus, but the Empire Builder is a good way to travel between Chicago and Seattle.
>>
You can get coaches between cities here but I don't know why you would instead of a train. It might be cheaper but they take forever.
>>
I remember how the only way to get to my family home was to travel with local carriers in smelly buses with some bums, because large carrier networks were being fought against (because a large monopolist with high standards is bad, but monopolists on smaller areas without any standards are okay), eventually I had to travel halfway across the country by train before I got to my destination because railways were fascist o algo
>>218402120
Yep. I like it here. But I remember a video of some randoms in France stealing luggage from a moving bus, so maybe it's not the Flixbus sucks but people?

Sadly no, it's cheaper to travel by bus in Portugal, than by train...which runs on electricity btw.

Especially flixbus, i can travel to Lisbon(300 km) for 6€. Train is close to 20€

N*ggerlands is far worse. We have a maximum cap on train prices but the speed at which you reach this is insane.
I live in Groningen which is our most remote city together with Maastricht and by the time I am in Zwolle - the first significant city along the rails and only connection - the ticket already cost €23. From there on the maximum of costs is €33.
It's so fucking annoying and basically causes for me to never leave my city.

They are expensive but checking now and that journey costs about 30 quid and takes an hour and a half yet it takes nearly 4 on the coach.

Why are Germans going to shitholes in the UK anyway?

I barely travel by bus for long distances, I do only when there's no point in travelling by car, and there's no other public transport alternative (available).
Once I was travelling at night, and woke up thinking that we were travelling close to an airport runway, there were several flashing lights arranged in lines, few seconds later I realized it was a brothel wich had quirky lighting set to catch the attention from potential clients.

Hey I live in Strasbourg and I see perfectly where your bus must have made it stop (near Rivetoile).
Anyway I made Strasbourg-Paris in Flexibus once and it sucked ass, took something like almost 8hours for something you can do in less than 2 hours in train also I had zwei younge mädchen vor mir and holy fuck they literally never stopped talking, literrally not a single fucking minute of silence.
