So I'm 3/4 French 1/4 Polish but my grandma didn't speak a word of Polish and was ashamed that people mention her Polish maiden name (although Poles were rather liked in France.) That's quite common to have either a Polish, Italian, Spanish or Belgian grandparent as those four nationalities gave large contingents of immigrants in the Interwar period. Full-blooded foreigners like Adèle Exarchopoulos are rarer.
