went to the emergency vet yesterday after I caught my cat panting and breathing heavily, the discovered a big growth on the outside wall of his heart plus his white blood cell levels are extremely high, likely indicating some form of blood cancer, they said that there is a chance its not cancer but its likely, they'll have to give him full euthanasia to give him a CT scan to be sure, and then if its not that they'll have to preform surgery to maybe have a chance to remove that growth, but I don't know if I want to put him through thathes already lost a lot of weight (around 1.5kg) and hes also fairly old, hes breathing is very heavy and hes not as agile, its clear that hes struggling, so his chances of surviving two full euthanasias plus surgery aren't that high, the vet said its up to me and that there is no wrong answers here and that putting him to sleep might be for the bestI don't know if its selfish of me to not want to treat him so he doesn't have to go through all of that just for the small chance of him getting better and just let him enjoy the few months he still has and putting him to sleep when it seems right, hell, I was pretty close to deciding to do it on the spot when I saw how freaked out he was at the vet, don't think I've ever seen him like that, but I decided against it and think with a clear mind, plus trying to end it on a nicer note than freaking out and panting at the vet.might have to do it in the coming months or even weeks, its hard, but I think I want him to have a few nice weeks full of treats and love before I decide to do it instead of putting him through hellsorry for the wall of text I just don't have someone to vent to.
