>>218733535Belarusi!!!!!Hello!
>>218733585Hello! I can't buy Final Fantasy 15.The reason for that are sanctions because of Russia's invasion. One would expect Nihon companies not to care about it, and yet here we are.
>>218733973>The reason for that are sanctions because of Russia's invasion.Really? Why Finalfantasy banned?
>>218734423Some of the Western companies decided to restrict access to their games in certain regions, and after 2022, it was Russia and Belarus, of course. In our case, the restrictions come from the fact that Russians have tried to use our land to launch attacks on the Ukrainian territory, and although there were no attacks since the early 2022, we are still under sanctions by both the governments of the West as well as by private companies, in this case video game companies. Japanese companies usually don't ban their games for political reasons, but in this case, Square Enix seems to have been *international* enough to care.Naturally I would pirate the game if I can't buy it, or actually even if I can. In this case, Final Fantasy 15 hasn't been updated in years, so the version that we got is an extremely buggy mess from the release date. There is very few games that I can actually buy because of this RU-UA war thing.
Okay, I'm genuinely curious. What do you, people, in general think of the development of the AI tools? I know that in the West there is a clear divide which is absent in China where everyone is excited, but I have no idea how it is being perceived in Japan. I am talking about both LLMs and image generation
>>218734888Some people think of using them like Chinese subhuman to make money but the majority of us are hesitant about AI because it's not sovl. It's not a good feeling when your own art style gets used by others without any effort on their part. And 4chan needs more Belarusians, thank you.
>>218735429I've heard an interesting take that in the West (in which I include Japan but not Russia), people are much more cynical towards AI because they do not think that it will be used for anything but profit-driven interests. While Chinese are more optimistic because they know that under the state control, it is more likely to serve the people... But I totally see your critical point, because to me it seemed that since the main output of Japan seemed to be cultural, it absolutely could not be delegated to the AI in any way.As for our people, yes, definitely, they need to get exposed to the western 'net a little bit moreOne more question. I've been reading a lot about the declining readership of people who read books or even articles, and everybody seems to be more inclined to fast-paced media. I think I have read an article that said that in Japan, the amount of people who read for pleasure has been declining even more rapidly than it did in the US.Is that true? If yes, to what extent?
>>218727045SEXOO
>>218735756Maybe true but I don't know exactly. These days, kids watch YouTube at double speed and rely on AI, which has led to more of them struggling with reading comprehension of long texts. we call them “ドパガキ”, and this is like ADHD or ASD thing. They can't concentrate for long periods or get too absorbed in games.I don't know whether this is the result of older mothers giving birth or whether it's a symptom made visible by the development of social media.
>>218736537Oh no, I mean the kids are like this, of course, everywhere. What I meant was are Zoomers like this or Millennials? I mean, the people who are supposed to get education at this point. How much do they read in Japan in general? I've been trying to find out how much people read in this country, and I kind of fail because majority say that they haven't read any books within the last year at all. Which doesn't seem to be very probable so I assume that either I phrase the question wrongly or ask the wrong people.
>>218736783>are Zoomers like this or Millennials? They have another problems especially millennials...>they haven't read any books within the last year at allThis is true.I think workers simply don't have the mental bandwidth to read books.Working adults read an average of 2~3 books/a month, but apparently over half of them don't read even one book a month. Some avid readers are skewing the average higher. But when it comes to manga, most adults read it too, as a matter of course, like 2~3 volumes/ a month.
>>218737522>Working adults read an average of 2~3 books/a monthThat's very decent. Here it seems to be common for nobody reading anything, but I attribute it to agricultural-developing economy. Thought that it might be very different in a country that is developed like Japan, and it seems to be indeed. It's just maybe because I'm not a Japanese, my perception of your country is that if I were there, I would have way too many things to see and maybe hear to have any time to actually engage with something written. Like a literature tradition somehow seems to require absence of engaging visual medium, if that makes sense. But idk, just thinking out loud
