Emperor Hirohito’s three-day state visit to the UK in October 1971, the first by a Japanese monarch, was marred by intense protests from war veterans and the public, who remembered Japan's wartime atrocities.

Despite a formal welcome by Queen Elizabeth, Hirohito faced silent crowds, jeers, and incidents of objects being thrown at his motorcade.

Many in London turned their backs on the Emperor, while some wore red gloves to symbolize war deaths or whistled the "Colonel Bogey" march (associated with The Bridge on the River Kwai).

The Japanese captured over 130,000 British soldiers and avenged the German battleship Bismarck, by sinking HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse after attacking Pearl Harbor.

>wartime atrocities.
Like bombing entire cities to ashes ?
>>
>>218765588
Just don't start a war you cannot win?
>>
>>218765097
Similar thing happened when he visited the Netherlands I think.
>>
>>218765998
Why did he keep visiting these countries? Humiliation ritual kink?
>>
>>218765588

>>
>>218765097

>>
>>218766312
Targeting civilians is a tactic now ?
>>
>>218767420
Of course. Look upt what a Chevauchée is.
>>
>>218767983
That's basic warfare before modern times, armies had no other choice in fact, the civilians were not targeted for political reasons.

You're retarded beyond salvation.
>>
>>218768894
nice argument momo
>>
>>218769151
There is no need for arguments here, only some basic knowledge about history and a brain.
Also, the fact that you think I'm a nafri when you're this unknowledgeable about your own country is very laughable.
>>
>>218766312
I never got this logic. Shooting a civilian is wrong in a war, but turning entire cities like Tokyo and Dresden into an oven is okay o algo.
>>
>>218769515
>>218769515
>only some basic knowledge about history and a brain.
Chevauchées = pillage = basic ancient warfare
Yes.
>>
>>218768600
WW2 era targeting system were not precise enough to only target productive structures before even considering enemy's flak
>>218769665
Modern wars can only be won through the complete destruction of the enemy's productive base and factories are embedded into cities
>>
>>218770071
Axis showed mercy at dunkirk and during the Blitz
>>
>>218770309
*Blundered at Dunkirk due to overextension and wanting to flex the Luftwaffe capabilities
*Got btfo by the RAF
>>
>>218770384
Germans could have wiped out BEF but showed mercy. Allies where more brutal.
>>
>>218770309
Also the Luftwaffe was geared for cas, they had no real long range strategic bombers
>>
>>218770400
They blundered the war because Hitler and Goering were retards
>>
Not my Emperor
>>
>>218770400
they did the Holocaust nigga
>>
>>218770033
You implied above that it was necessary at the time for the armies to live off the land. That was not the case. The Chevauchées was a strategy to sap the political power of the King of France.

You don't even need to go beyond Wikipedia.
In fact, you shouldn't even be needing any history knowledge at all. The fact that we gave a proper noun to these events should be a hint obvious enough to have anyone with half a brain realize it wasn't any "basic" warfare operation.
