Monterrey is currently the most developed city in Mexico. It's the only place in the entire country with a truly diversified business ecosystem encompassing manufacturing, industry, technology, finance, corporate services, and media and entertainment outside of Mexico City (and no, Jalisco doesn't have most of this).

I wouldn't live there by choice; it seems to me one of the most bland and monotonous cities in the country. However, I would live in Saltillo or in a town in Nuevo León or Coahuila, particularly near Cumbres de Monterrey National Park. The towns in that region are very pleasant (Arteaga, Viesca, Parras, Linares, Santiago, Bustamante).

the only white-passing mexicans i’ve ever met were from Monterrey. why is this?
>>
It's a bland Americanized and commercial glass city and the economical center of Northern Mexico. It's only redeemable geographic features are its proximity to the border and the surrounding mountains make for a great hike. A friend who did a student exchange there told me that the repressed whitexicans with conservative parents create great femboys and tgirls, though.

Is it actually that good? I know Safran and Audi send people there for engineering school. Good on them if it is. Mexico as a technocrat chud state would be pretty based and resolve most migration issues NGL.

Any random location website will always place you in the ugliest areas of Mexico, full of unfinished houses, dirt roads, and generally an underdeveloped environment. Perhaps because most of Mexico is like that.
