He used to rule over larger parts of Italy, and either way he rules over the Catholic Church which might as well be considered some sort of supranational state.

There is not a single true monarchy in all of Europe. They're all a farce. More specifically, the Spanish Monarchy was usurped as early as 1834. It's no wonder many Spaniards refer to Felipe VI as Felpudo VI (Doormat VI). He's a mere puppet of Spain's enemies, both domestic and foreign, and he's willing to do anything to keep his daughter in the throne (a figurehead position that would shame anyone with even a modicum of self-respect). His wife plays a crucial role in this bootlicking traitorous role, keeping him completely under her thumb (he's shamefully henpecked since the beggining).

"Spain, like all countries, has its own way of being. In our case, a Catholic and monarchical tradition. When it has remained faithful to it, it has fared well. And when it has strayed from that path, we see what happens. Those who belong to a royal family have not so much rights as obligations, from which they cannot escape without losing their sense of purpose. The liberal dynasty has a self-destructive tendency. And, in the face of it, the hope for the restoration of the traditional monarchy remains intact. Even more so in a world that is crumbling on all sides. These last few months we have seen how fragile what not long ago seemed unchangeable has become. Carlism has always been reborn in times of crisis. And now we are in one, and a very deep one. In the traditional monarchy, the king is subject to the law of God, first and foremost, and then to the laws of the realm. The king in the traditional monarchy is responsible".

S.A.R. Don Sixto Enrique Hugo Francisco Javier de Borbón-Parma y Borbón-Busset.
