Just learned that Greeks have an alternative name for Jerusalem "Hierosolyma".
Not only plainly transcribing it "Ierousalem", they modified the first two syllables to "Hiero"(=holy), by means of a feature of their language that is flexible in attaching or removing the heading H when a word begins with a vowel.
cool ancient pun, isn't it?
