Is there a better country than Canada to invest from? With a TFSA and FHSA as soon as you turn 18 you can invest already about 15000$ tax free. And much lower withholding taxes than the U.S. on international dividends. My dividend ETFs are like banana farms from Bloons Tower Defense.
>>
>>218808502
Also forgot to mention in Canada you can invest in tangible things like banks and commodities instead of imaginary silicon wafers and Cleverbot.

I invested some money in company I work for but got bored and sold everything

But if you have access to Russian stock market I'd recommend you buying Polyus (gold mining company) stocks.

Makes me enough money to live a comfortable neet life. It's honestly perhaps the best way how to make money without having to work or wake up with any schedule, the only problem is that you need quite a hefty amount of money as a starting capital with which you can then make your actual money.
>>
>>218808833
Do you invest in what?
>>
>>218808781
I have no will to live that's my main issue, even if I was a millionaire 10 years down the road, I'd have nothing to spend the money on
>>
>>218808849
Up until a few months ago almost exclusively just big name companies like Nvidia, AMD, Google, Rolls-Royce was really cool, and plenty of similar companies that just have a really good established position on the market with something that nobody else can provide otherwise. Recently it's also some silver and gold, but I try to never hold that longer that few days into the green numbers because you don't want to be in the next sellout.

I'm feeling the same bro

What's the point of everything? I kinda that have a comfy income but I have no idea in what to spend it on

I don't know man, I just draw and play video games in my spare time, it's basically free and brings me more joy than any other activity, I had a somewhat fancy car some years back but it brought me no joy whatsoever I was constantly concerned about it breaking down or getting stolen, once you stop caring what other people think you're free in a way but at the same time life becomes sort of pointless

Pretty sure every American that has a 401k is investing.
I invest for retirement, but I do have some money to "throwaway", so I invest in developed economies ex-US ETFs. Might as well invest in a more powerful Europe, SK, Japan.

I was thinking about investing in China, but not sure. Any good China ETFs? I will admit China is a concerning one. But hey..high-risk, high-reward.....?

I dislike our country and its economy quite a bit but I do have to admit the TFSA is probably one of the most powerful investment tools I think the world over. Load that fucker up with bonds and monthly payout ETFs and you've got yourself a source of income for sundry expenses and absolutely zero taxes to pay on it.
>>

>bonds and monthly payout ETFs
You should only do that when your account is in millions. You should try to maximize growth early and then focus on dividends and hedging after your account grows into 7 figures.
>>
I'm up 10% since jan1
This market is crazy

>You should only do that when your account is in millions
A TFSA doesn't have millions in contribution room. I agree that when you're still getting your foot in the door you should be focusing on growth and capital appreciation, and since the tax on capital gains is more favourable than the tax on interest, so holding assets whose gains come from capital appreciation in a TFSA is less effective than holding assets whose gains come from interest, as you'll be able to avoid a greater amount of taxes on the same return. Plus, a TFSA's doesn't allow you to offset your capital gains with capital losses, and if you do suffer capital losses in a TFSA, well, tough luck, because you don't get that contribution room back.

So, while you're technically correct in maximizing early growth, a non-tax advantaged account is a better way of doing that.

Tax Free Savings Account. Basically it's a registered savings account which functions like a normal investment account. It can hold basically all of the same investments as an RRSP. Any returns you earn on investments held in a TFSA; interest, dividends, capital gains, are completely tax-free, even when you make a withdrawal. This is different from an RRSP, where you defer paying taxes on your returns until you make a withdrawal. Like an RRSP, there's a limited amount of contributions you can make to a TFSA annually without incurring a penalty (and it's a pretty fucking stiff penalty, so pay attention to your contribution room), but unlike an RRSP you can't deduct contributions from your taxes payable, so you make contributions with after-tax income, not pre-tax income, but as said, income earned from a TFSA is completely tax-free.
>>
>>218810653
I disagree. Growth stocks have a higher rate of return than dividend stocks even you don't take taxation into account. Your TFSA can grow to a million if you consistently hit the cap room every year. It will take a decade though.
>>218810768
Savings account where you can hold assets and don't have to pay taxes on interest or capital gain. It's the best way to grow your wealth while you are young. The contribution limit is capped but increases every year after you turn 18. You can buy and sell stocks and the profits you make counts towards your contribution limit. So if you make a million you contribution limit increases by a million but conversely your contribution limit will shrink when you lose money. You can open an account using quest trade or wealthsimple. I don't recommend banks. They charge you for no reason.
>>
>>218810992
I meant to say 3-4 decades and not a decade.
