I've been in Miami for two weeks and haven't spoken English once.

Do you find that surprising?

Yes, I knew a lot of Latinx lived here but I never expected it to feel like a completely different country.

What happens if a pasty white boy goes to Miami?
>>
I had an American roommate for months and we never spoke English

Yes but Spanish will eventually die out in the country. There are 46 million Americans who claimed some German ancestry, yet, because the media that Americans consume, the laws and the economic and educational opportunities they can get come from English and not from Spanish or other languages, German has already died out, any language will die out. Unlike Quebec for instance, where French is able to perpetuate itself because it is the language of education, laws and work.
