My gf and I both are very curious about traveling to India and we want to explore the country. What are some interesting and/or underrated places to visit and things to do there?

My gf and I visited the south of India, Kerala (Kochi and the backwaters, Munnar, Vagamon) and Karnataka (Mysore, Hampi, Badami) last year. It was a great vacation, but we knew what to expect

I've heard the south is significantly nicer than the north, in terms of being cleaner, less over-crowded, less gross, etc.
Is that true?
>>218863698
Looks very beautiful, indeed. Plus I prefer colder weather so I think I'd be more comfortable there!

I didn't visit the north so I can't be objective, but it is one of the most developped state of India by all the metrics. There are still open air designated landfill spots near almost every village, but the nature is beautiful, and Mysore and Kochi were not as overbearing as what I imagine the big northern cities are based on the videos I've seen.

Then again India is the only place we've been where we elected to have a personnal chauffeur rather than taking public transport. I think it made our travel much more stress free.

South West to avoid some of the hellscape factor. Don't take your gf to busy touristy places its crawling with molesters.
