Welcome to /flag/, a comfy 130 IQ general for Extraflags users that combines your passions for geography, maps AND travel by using the Extraflags extension

Threadly activities include travel/trip posting, urbex, wilderness exploration, hunting for radioactive minerals, eclipse and aurora hunting, (extra)flag collecting, map filling, cycling across Europe, other autistic activities and overall funposting

>What is Extraflags?
Extraflags is an open-source browser userscript that lets you choose regional flags, like states and provinces, to add to your already existing default country flag.
Turns out it's very well suited for travel posting because you can flex with the ultrarare (or at least, nice) flags you're travelling to, rather than using it as a reddit flair for tripfagging in other threads

this province also recently got a flag, and it's not a coincidence that they choose a celtic symbol for their heraldry. Brianza comes from celtic"bric", "hill". in Liguria and Piedmont a lot of hills are still called "bric" to this day

Villa Raverio, which doesn't have a flag unfortunately

this rock is called "Sasso Guidino" and it's the southernmost erratic boulder in all of Lombardy. probably in the Padan Plain too or there about. glaciers transported it here all the way from the Valtellina area, so about where Sondrio is now
today it barely snows here so put that in perspective

not my personal blog life update

so i did sell my apartment last summer, paid all of my debts off (around $4k) and moved down here
guess what i've been up to throughout this half a year? nothing, ive been doing the same shit ive been doing back in Voronezh, i.e living off of my savings and now im down $3k that i spent on rent and food
i havent worked a single day which i was heavily intended on doing so but i just cant
turns out i am on neetbux for a reason, i just cant bring myself to work

what im gonna be doing about this? dunno, i would probably wait till the summer then spend some time chilling by the sea and then BUY myself an apartment somewhere in Komi Republic for a few thousand dollares, reapply for the northern type of neetbux (they are like twice as much as what i am getting right now) and will be cooking meals myself to save some money
i would rather spend 2-3 hours a day cooking than w*rking
oh btw i thought i would be just food delivering here in winter but it turns out Krasnodar winter is both wet and cold, the roads have been icy for at least the last month, so it's not some kind of a southern paradise even though the summer here lasts from april to november

so what's the point of all of this? there is none
i spent $3k on living here when i couldve buy myself a whole ass place on that

but now that this money is no more and if im still looking forward to moving there permanently i would be left virtually zero dollares

download this script file: https://www.mediafire.com/file/57y1ihnd0k7wt1x/autogoogler.py/file

shape flags you need to google: https://www.mediafire.com/file/16p0i4cdfpeic16/oriental_region_morocco.rar/file

place the script inside a province and then drag the file onto spyder. for this particular case i already tweaked the settings, if another country you might need to change the prefix or suffix accordingly

in the URL bar after the # there's the latin transcription, unfortunately i can't insert it into the search bar without affecting the results. you could use that for saving the images or just the arabic text, i can work with both cases

you mostly just need to run the script with this button.
ah and i forgot to remove the print at line 82 lol. delete that line for a cleaner console
it's also possible to run the script without opening Spyder by just doubleclicking, but you won't see the console

VERY VERY nice tool. Just one small note, for all of these, I had to Google "commune + place"

But since I had the google results ready, it was easy to alternate. It would be much faster if I can make the results "Commune + Aghbal@أغبال" though
>>
>>219062891
I'm not sure if i'm understanding. the script already attaches the prefix "baladiya" to the name of the place (both in arabic). See the settings. That's what you see in the search bar.
The latin transcription is not used in the search, it's there just for reference. It could be used for googling in french for example, we could open two tabs for every municipality one in arabic and one in french

anyway, once we understand exactly what we want we can code it, that's not a problem
>>
>>219064173
French searches give better results than Arabic. Sometimes Arabic searches don't bring up Facebook pages or websites.
>>
>>219064724
https://www.mediafire.com/file/2d7uiprjgawokc3/autogoogler.py/file

added bilingual support for filenames with two versions separated by "@". you can choose if to google one, the other or both by setting the respective boolean variables to "True" or "False"

i even added additional suffix support for filenames that contain "§". for example, "Burnham-on-Crouch§town">"Burnham-on-Crouch town council" but "Althorne§parish">"Althorne parish council". afaik this will be used only in England thou, so that's for another time

in my experience in Tunisia, there are searches that are only successful in arabic and not in french, so in the doubt i would leave enable both. your judgement thou

There's a border market between Tajikistan and Afghanistan near Ishkashim. It's located on a small island in the Panj river which marks the border between the two countries. Supposedly the island belongs to Afghanistan but it's somewhat of a free trade zone for locals. That would count I believe.

Oops I accidentally posted the Bannu District (3rd level) instead of the Bannu Division (2nd level).

But you get my point
>>
>>219303412
i was testing the waters for India and Bangladesh and i think they are flaggable to 3rd level too. they go state>district>tehsil exactly like Pakistan (tehsils are called upazilas in BD) and they are more or less of the size of european municipalities (maybe a bit bigger, which is a relief for a country the size of India)
now, technically the tehsils are just geographical, they don't have councils or anything. HOWEVER: most towns that are big enough to be the capital of a tehsil also have a municipal council or even corporation for the bigger ones. not every tehsil capital has a council and there are councils that are not tehsil capitals, but overall there's a good overlapping
hence, we can just assign the municipal council's logo (the vast majority have one) to a tehsil and voila

if Pakistan works the same, and i would think it does, the whole of South Asia is flaggable to municipality level, which is insane (only Afghanistan would need shape flags for its 2nd level (districts) and i wouldn't mind filling it in. not sure about Nepal)

most municipal councils have seals, not sure about the nagar panchayat but they aren't too many to look into anyway

this is a big chunk of India, and still not an insane project. medium sized i'd say. yet, i won't be getting into it until i will have a lot of free time unless someone needs to dump there. i could easily fill in the shape flags thou

Make... No mistake... I'm a sociopath. God that sounded evil. Lets rewind a little. I grew up all over coastal America, house, after house, after restraining order, everything just kinda blends in. If the divorce rate is 50/50, my mom landed on tails like eight times. So by the time I was 14, right? I moved from seven different houses and attended six different school districts. After awhile, you don't see a point in making friends. The Vitamin C graduation song? yeah, can't relate. But then, one year, all of that almost changed?? For the first time EVER I found myself in a school for two consecutive years, going on three. And then like... I started turning pretty a month into highschool so the "guys hitting on you" social leverage was really awesome. The popular girls would talk to me all of the time, and they were just STUPID. Like they had always been pretty. Never left out, never alone. And when I think about it... all the thinking I've ever done was when I was alone. I was nice about it, and thought I'd always be nice about it. Finally in one place to build a steady reputation. And then life said FUCK THAT. My PIECE OF SHIT GAMER BROTHER got us evicted for pirating BREAKBEAT MIXTAPES. ITS LIKE, NOT EVEN GOOD MUSIC??? Anyway, so Mom was crying packing up the moving boxes and that's when she told me we're moving out of state! And I JUST got settled! I said "FUCK YOU I'm living with Dad", he's just a neighborhood down. I go over, knock on the door and... BOOM. A GUNSHOT. My second Christmas KILLED HIMSELF! I walked in... blood everywhere like a whole ass video game. And get this, his suicide note. All he wrote on it? Nicole's fault.... I'm Nicole by the way hi WHAT THE FUCK DID I DO TO HIM?! Maybe I missed the office softball game?? Men are so into this revenge suicide thing. But whatever. It doesn't matter. Nothing matters... I'm moving... AGAIN. City, county, state; all the same fate. But I've always said that... while leaving. This time? Its on arrival.

the snow on the bike symbolizes how the trip couldn't be more successful. did you manage to sleep?
>>
>>219454930
I agree. It does make for a pretty cool cemetery sleeping pic. I didn't sleep much though. Started snowing around 9pm and intensified over midnight. Ended around 4am. Got myself a room again for tonight. Sleeping bag needs to dry asap before mold gets a chance to develop.
It's been an extremely lazy trip so far with little daily mileage and lots of accomodation due to adverse weather and winter road conditions. Pumping my neetbux into the Ukrainian economy kek. Tuesday is shaping up to be a rainy mess but from then on I SHOULD be able to enjoy some warm and dry spring weather for the rest of the trip.

after working online for exactly one month, i am happy to announce that if nothing unexpected happens, from now on i will finally be able to travel regularly at least within europe. i will definitely be in Corsica this spring and at this point Chechia in autumn is highly likely too if the geiger counter market doesn't skyrocket suddenly. not counting the Northern spain hiking/eclipse trip this summer ofc, that's already accounted for
god if only i had discovered this thing in like 2023, it would have been a different general

HELL YES
Is that fiverr? What do you do
>>
>>219493845
it's prolific. i partecipate to studies, which can be filling in surveys, clicking on images or pressing space when i'm about to crash in a car driving minigame. pays hourly more than working at le factory and i don't have to go to the factory. but there is only so much work available, i should sign up to usertesting too.
not available in Turkey and Russia btw, in case you and Voronezh were wondering. in fact it's already a miracle there's something like this in Italy. its main competitor Cloudresearch is available only in 'merica and Amazon MTurk always rejects non AUKUSers

also what do you do on fiverr
