Do people still wear the terrorist watch in your country?
>>

casio isnt terrorist
and yea everyone here owns one for army/reserve duty. there was a massive trend of those silver/gold casios among foids too

I have both silver/gold Casios and also planning to buy OP’s pic next time I go to some thirdie South American country, I got tons of compliments for my Casio compared to other watches I have. It’s a very timeless design and also incredibly functional when I am out at the bars with low lighting
>>
>>219271531
I used to have one of these as a kid, back when people using these were still seen as normal.

F91w have an horrible backlight and they didn't fix it to this day. The problem with Casio is they have made awesome things in the past and now they're selling mostly shit of the past but worse for some models, which is ridiculous. Exception made for some Gshocks with good tech like solar and multiband.

Casio have a huge fanbase of normies, take a look at their fucking reddit. So yes it's very popular and not only to say fuck you to SW.

Reddit is "more normie" than 4chan obviously, but that does not mean it's normie per se. True normies use Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok (in that order).
Redditors are mostly just weird nerds, but anti-chuddy.

I have the Silver A-168 and it’s been great so far, also scratched it quite a but but still barely noticeable, the backlight is great and haven’t needed a replacement since
And also I used to have a Baby-G since I was 10 years old, still works and only had to replace the battery once 2 years ago, used it in the Army and when I worked out
Also pic related is my favorite model, A-700 with the brown strap, only wear it when I’m feeling extra classy
>>219274896
There is a huge class of normies on Reddit that use it purely for niche hobby forums, and also huge thirdie only subs in general too
>>
Most people in Pernambuco use casio knock-offs and chinese smart watches, or just look at their phones.

If they HAVE a niche hobby in the first place, then they are not a true normie, genius. Normies aren't into train-spotting lmao

>>219275051
Why get knockoff ones when the originals are of great quality for the price? They are especially thirdie obtainable prices and last for years
>>
>>219275101
>normies aren't into train-spotting
Normies have evolved to be parasites on things nerds in the past have always be proud of. The most common guy now have access to things it makes things extremely volatile and devalue the hobby itself.
>>
>>219275383
Looks like something navy fags would wear
Normalfags always preferred the more simple Casios
>>
>>219275413
Availability and cost I guess, same as why the chinese prefer using the worst copy over an original.
>>
>>219275413
The knock-offs are pretty much just as resistant and go for about 1/3 or 1/4 of the price. I get that casios like those in OP are quite cheap but we have a big cheapstake culture over here, and it also has to do with supply. Fake casios can by found at any street market, corner store, stall, they sell them at bakeries and gas station. Real casios can only be found in watch stores, shopping malls, or online.
>>
>>219275383

That's probably because Europe is home to numerous famous watchmakers.
In Japan, the affordable G-Shock is positioned for children and young people, while Protrek is seen as a watch for adults and hobbyists.
But nowadays, high-end G-Shock models are also sold, so the lines have blurred.
>>
>>219276030
No japanese watches like Orient, Citizen or Seiko are all very popular in Europe, nothing to do with luxury swiss watches a few can buy. Gshocks are also popular in Japan for sure including the less afordable branch MG, but it's far cheaper in your country due to taxes and other stuff.

MR-G*
>>
>>219275925
I used it because I enjoy fishing and hiking, but it was so durable I wore it daily too.
Honestly though, it was because I couldn't afford to buy multiple watches lol
But over the years it started feeling heavy, and I don't wear it outside of my hobbies anymore.
I can't afford a high-end lightweight model either...
>>
>>219276327
Why do you need an expensive watch for hiking in the first place ? get a cheap lightweight watch you like and voilà.
>>
>>219276159
MRG-G1000 Series
Based on the current exchange rate between the yen and the euro, it sells in Japan for approximately €1,650 to €3,850.
Seiko's lower-priced products are likely manufactured at factories built in Europe.
Import taxes are probably unavoidable to protect the country's manufacturing industry.
>>
>>219276461
Back in the day, you could buy one for around 150€.
And it was incredibly handy—it wouldn't break even if you smashed it against a rock, and it could measure temperature, water temperature, air pressure, and more.
>>
>>219276668
>Seiko's lower-priced products are likely manufactured at factories built in Europe
No they're all manufactured in China, movements and modules are all made in Japan though. Most straps are made in China to lower the cost as much as possible.
>>
>>219276753
>it could measure temperature, water temperature, air pressure, and more
Is it reliable ? I've seen it's far from perfect and demands calibration, you have to put the watch off the wrist to get the temperature right as far I've seen. Not really convince it's necessary on a watch IMO.
>>
>>219276769
Japanese companies are preparing to pull out of China, so prices might go up soon.
>>
>>219276923
I don't know if your industry could survive for international market without cheap labor, unless if they move to another shithole like India.
>>
>>219276914
When taking a measurement, I always remove it from my wrist and wait until the heat from my body has dissipated.
When I bought the second one, I took the strap off the first one and attached it to my vest.
Also, I don't think the readings are very accurate, but it constantly measured how much the air pressure changed.
>>
>>219277069
Alright that confirms what I've seen online.
>>
>>219277063
That's certainly true.
But they probably think it's better than the current situation, where they're forced to comply with the Chinese government and have their technology stolen legally, or their equipment and assets confiscated.
Incidentally, Suzuki's expansion into India seems to have been a success.
>>
>>219277069
I suppose it's good enough for an estimate but not for precise readings
>>
>>219271531
Mine’s strap broke a few months ago. Probably not suitable for tropical country. The flexible plastic/resin/oil strap degrades much quicker.

Probably gonna try nylon strap to replace it.
>>
>>219277180

>>219271531

>>
>>219277340
Yeah for accuracy you've your phone, but still I like the keep it simple, a cheap Gshock do the job well for outdoor activities.
>>
>>219277340
That's to be expected on a "general purpose" device, no? Unless it was deviating too much from the expected range
>>
>>219277869
There is a range of +- many degrees for accuracy but yeah it can't be precise on the wrist it's physically impossible with the captors. Even an easy thing like the compass could be fucked up on these watches, so the tech is not perfect.
>>
>>219271616
>says it's not a terrorist watch but goes on to say it's worn as standard by a whole army of terrorists
ya ben zona
>>
>>219278125
It's not "physically impossible" to have precision instruments in a watch but it would be prohibitively expensive
>>
>>219278756
Of course it is impossible to have exact reads on a watch, same as health status on a SW. Hell, even the calibration of time isn't perfect with an atomic watch even it's if set everyday. On a regular day, a quartz deviate from a few milliseconds for most of them. But that's another story.

The problem is that I'd love a simple watch like a Casio F91w but I do actually need a watch with at least a step count so I can keep to a minimum standard of activity.

Then if you look for a Casio with a step count you end up paying a premium for a basic feature. And if you want to use cheap shit on AliExpress then it's a pain to connect with my nutrition app. Plus most knock-off smart watches look like complete shit on a date or when you need to wear a suit at work.

I suffer.
>>
>>219283304

I wear a casio a168 I like it because it's useful and small I'm a wristlet so anything bigger than 38mm looks gross on me like a kid wearing a gshock.
I have an automatic diver as well but telling the time and date is just easier on my casio, and the backlight is better than the lume at least for me, it still kind of looks like a toy watch nobody takes me seriously with it but I wear it for myself, too bad it's getting discontinued thoughever.
