Why did they choose to be african? They could've been another tourist resort for Europeans, like Azores and Canary Islands. Lots of money flow and investment would've come. But instead they chose to be african, poor, corrupt, dangerous. Why?

why did you choose to be Asian instead of Swedish?

They were black

Literally half African/half Portuguese
>They could've been another tourist resort for Europeans, like Azores and Canary Islands.
Neglected for ages once the slave trade was cut off. Had constant droughts that led to mass emmigration or face starvation that Portugal never really seemed to care about.
>Lots of money flow and investment would've come.
Easy to say that with nothing to back that up. Would, should, could but yet they didn't.

Because Asia is cooler? You should know that

I remember a family from there visiting my church once. Very polite people.

They didn't choose to, we did. They did have an independence movement, but it was pretty small compared to the rest since it was lumped together with Guinea Bissau. They are also doing pretty well all things considered, not dangerous or corrupt at all, especially by African standards, and Portugal is still heavily involved in the country

Not really. The economy was pretty ass and it atill had massive emmigration. Americans meme about most Puerto Eicans being outside of the island but Cabo Verde's immigration was so prolonged and heavy over the 100+ years that more Cabo Verdeana exist outside of the chain of islands than within it.

And the islands economy could be described post slave trade as "chain famines+droughts and abusive plantation labour".

Sounds like Portugal let them go
