Mastercard/Visa duopoly could have been abolished overnight if governments made it legal to put card processing fees a separate entry on every purchase at the store similar to sales tax meaning you would have separate prices for cash purchase and card purchases.But of course a duopoly means both companies have insane leverage over banking regulations in every government and they heavily lobby against it.Im happy that BLIK is a thing in Poland but even they have to rely on Mastercard virtual tokens for tap-to-pay txns. Most places with payment terminals already support BLIK 6-digit one time codes that doesn't rely on MC integration but the one self-service fuel station I use doesn't so I'm forced to do it anyways.
