What do they even do with the old one????
I've had a super old samsung phone for the majority of my life and only stepped over to some 200 euro samsung phone once the software of the old phone got so old that I could not download normal apps on the playstore anymore.

A lot of people do. To my knowledge, most people get them "free" from their phone carrier. Not sure how it works exactly but I think they rape you somehow
I went to buy a pixel 9a for $200 during a sale and they had a team of supergoys trying to talk me into getting an iphone pro for free instead
