You will NEVER learn Chinese
>>219282696I'll never learn ANY language that isn't English.
seven years of studying, passed hsk6 last year, read 3 full books in Chinese, let's see if I can do this合适 befitting one's personal tastes适合 to fit, verb.适宜 fitting with the environment that it's in适用 appropriate and useful适当 done to the proper rules, and in the right way适量 the right amount合宜 never seen this before合手 ergonomic, literally means "fits with the hand"合用 easy to use得宜 again, never seen this before得当 something done appropriately/properly, like a well phrased comment.得体 something extremely accurate and suitable恰当 just right, not too much not too little妥 never seen this used alone妥善 done appropriately and perfectly妥实 done appropriately and realistically/upfront (老实、实在)妥帖 appropriate and considerate妥当 the right thing in the situation一定 definitely. don't know why this is in here停当 complete允当 never seen this before对头 proper and suitable to a person对路 the right way of doing something对劲 exactly as you want. usually 对劲儿定当 done in a correct and considerate way的当 never seen this before, if I had to guess it would be accurate and proper?相宜 good to do in a certain situation. more emphasis on an action相当 equals. ig it could sometimes mean the same as 相宜配合 fit in, match贴切 well-worded方便 convenient
>>219282696I like to call languages like these "vibe languages". Polish is quite similar in that regard, where it's very flexible and you just have to soak in the culture to know what would fit best. Very pattern recognition dependent and you can tell if natives are retarded just from the way they speak.
>>219282696You just gotta expose yourself to the language in use a bunch, same as any language.
>>219283619did that help you get a chinese gf?
>>219284218maybe
>>219284127what type of language is english?
>>219284459A very simple one. Not to suck my own cock but I was fluent by age 13 just by playing World of Warcraft and watching AVGN on early YouTube.
>>219284459periphery mutt language like Korean and Turkish
>>219284459Easy to learn because there's extensive content in it online in any niche you'd care to name, plenty of which has no direct equivalent in one's native language.
>>219284127>>219284511Your understanding of English as a simple language is because you adopted the online mutted pidgin version of it that developed from thirdies (poorly) imitating generic Hollywood English. There is for sure more depth to English found in places where English is a genuine first language (and no I don't count American English because too much of it was learnt secondhand by Germanics, and even after generations of English as their first language Americans are still retarded with it).
>>219285036This. Wait till he learns about jestermaxxing, cortisol spiking, dairygooning, goynip, lowkirkuinely
>>219285036Doesn't change the fact that English is highly analytical, therefore simple grammatically.Mutting itself is exactly how it compensates. Instead of synthesizing new words on demand, it just borrows simple words from other languages and pretends that they enrich the vocabulary.
>>219285258What a chad language. Literal caveman tier.
>>219285258>English is highly analyticaltry learning Chinese lol>Mutting itself is exactly how it compensates. Instead of synthesizing new words on demand, it just borrows simple words from other languages and pretends that they enrich the vocabulary. You're missing my point entirely, it doesn't mutt itself because it needs to, it's mutted because of people like YOU who learn the shitty American pidgin as a second language and find your poor understanding of it isn't very good
>>219285258>highly analytical, therefore simple grammatically. Not quite how it works.>it just borrows simple words from other languages and pretends that they enrich the vocabulary."Pretends"?
Complex != efficient you brainlets
>>219285371It was mutted before you were born. Before anyone was born. Say thanks to the Normans.>"Pretends"?E.g. trypophobia literally just means hole fear in Greek. Congratulations, you have a word for something 4-yaer old Manolis could utter to express his feelings.
In Dutch we just say passend.
>>219282696But I do know Chinese. Ching chong fong yu yam bai. Tingtong hong ma heng wasa pu ti yeng hong kong bong mong gong, yip yu sala bimbong chang cheng xuxu buxu nudu.
>>219285498The Normans mutted it the right way, Americans and online thirdies mutted it the wrong way>>219285498>trypophobiaGood example of what I'm talking about with ESL English, using laboured, made up words American psychologists use to describe simple and otherwise easily explained concepts.
Why are anglophones so desperate to defend the qualities of their language? Do they really think it became lingua franca on its own linguistic merits and not because of economic power and military prowess? I don't think most countries would be so autistic about defending the sanctity of the ebb and flow of their native language
>>219282696Yeah, why would I learn language of the enemy?
>>219286071I'm literally arguing the opposite, the lingua franca American pidgin variety of English is shit and I'm sick of browns attacking the language on that basis
>>219282696doesn't matter, I'll impregnate a chinese woman and my children will know chinese
>You will NEVER learn Chinese
>>219286820Can you just give the larping a break man it's embarrassing to read
>>219286071Everyone thinks their language is super special and deep and gets defensive about it, this is just how human beings think in general.Chinks are worse about it - I dunno if you've ever spoken to a native Chinese person about their language before, but they think every other tongue is basically meaningless caveman babble in comparison.
>>219285673>labored made up wordsIt's a basic conjugation, both of those are Greek words. They do the same with Latin like cephalopod, it means 'head-foot' they're normally taxonomic words structured for indexing large catalogues of things.
>>219282696>Unironically learning bug people languageFor what purpose?
>>219286071>English is mostly loanwords>Why are Anglophones so desperate to defend their languageAt least of the third of the words you used are French, the ONLY thing worth defending in regards to English is the grammar. It's the most adaptive, analytic, expansive, and information dense languages yet also one of the most mongrelized.
>>219286945Not even Chinese actually know Chinese. Every video with Chinese audio on the internet has subtitles so people can actually understand, and the way people speak the language resembles some sort of broken ooga booga pidgin. Like saying ruguodehua instead of ruo for if or shenme shihou instead of heshi for when
>>219282696And thank god for that
>>219287228>conjugationThat is not what that word means.
>>219287399The characters just make the history behind it more obvious. In English the word "every" is literally "ever each" originally, with "ever" being "ay-in-fere" (ever-in-life) and "each" being "ay-y-which" (ever-together-which). If Mandarin were a purely spoken language with no characters to remind them of words' histories "shenme shihou" would surely have been squished down to just a couple syllables by now- as it already is in informal speech.
>>219287228>conjugationI don't think you know what that word means.>They do the same with Latin like cephalopod, it means 'head-foot' they're normally taxonomic words structured for indexing large catalogues of things.Yeah cephalapod is useful in an academic sense but trying to use those words in common settings for non-clinical use (like describing a fear of holes ffs) is very manufactured.Like literally "a fear of holes" has less syllables in it than "trypophobia", there's no reason to use the latter unless you're doing the most ridiculous madeup clinical study.
>>219287399>Like saying ruguodehua instead of ruo for if or shenme shihou instead of heshi for whenlol whatYou don't just use "ru" for if, you at the very least have to say ruguo. That would be like just saying "be" when you mean to say "because" in English."shenme shihou" LITERALLY means "what time" and that's how it's used. You can't really criticise a language for being hard to understand when you're making the most basic of fuckups like this.
>>219283619looks like fly speck
>>219288337如 on its own did used to mean "if" (or "like") in Classical Chinese, but that was a long time ago.
Hard to learn language isn't a good thing. Especially one based on a lot of memorization, it's inefficient and takes space and time you could do use for other things. As long as it's not some ghetto speak, easier languages are better.I'm highly proficient in russian, hebrew and english, and mildly proficient in japanese which ultimately i abandoned after not connecting to the culture. Japanese is quite wasteful and limited in my opinion and actually my critique of it is that the indirect manner of it creates a culture and behavior that is contrary to my culture and behavior. I care about the ideas and culture that is downstream of language and the ability to express complex ideas, not the fact you can say "ice" with 20 different words.. that's just getting high on the smell of your own farts while playing with your nipples.Interesting anecdotes: there is no word for privacy in the russian language (test me on this, i'm a native speaker and asked others). There is no sexy word like pussy in hebrew, only the official term like vagina or very derogatory one like cunt.
>>219288337>>219288508I said ruo 若 not ru 如. You just proved my point
>>219288576A lot of words that were distinct in older stages of Chinese are now pronounced the same, so they combine them to remove the ambiguity. That's a normal process.
>>219285036naur
>>219286071t. Luckporn Thongwangdaddy
>>219287399rude
>>219282696This "pic" is incorrect. The words don't mean the same thing.
>>219288337You can use 如 by itself but it can also mean "like" and "example"
>>219283619I started autodidactically learning Mandarin back in 2018. Even decided to push myself and paid to take the HSK2 test back in early 2019, which I passed. I got lazy in 2020 and stopped learning it and now I massively regret it. Fuck my life. I could be beyond fluent if I stuck with it.
>>219285258absolute truthnuke anglomonkeys seething and crying
>>219292472Maybe you could haveBut then again, if you didn't drop it in 2020, there's no guarantee you would have kept learning until today
>>219282696I know. Because im lazy ass fuck.
>>219284511Considering the amount of swear words and their forms in my language, I bet this list is nowhere near completion and should be at least 10 times bigger.
