What's Bulgaria like?
>>
>>219293262
I have a house there in a city that has greek ruins and is warm
>>
>>219293262
mountains, valleys and coastline
>>
>>219293262
Like southern Romania.
>>
in my research, there are very little jews there today, demographically speaking, not stature. they moved away after WW2 because they were slaves during the war
>>
>>219293289
Ill add some stuff:

Roads are shit, people drive like lunatics and this comes from a pole.
Infrastructure is „not yet there” you can see and feel they enetered eu not long ago and they have a lot to work on.
The beaches are great, people seem grumpy at times but are really nice when you talk to them.
Pleaces like Warna are very, very balkan. The feel just screams balkans.
They have a lot greek ruins but they should care about them more.
House prices were super low, still low now but changing at a extreme pace.
The food is very good and I like water mussels in garlic sauce or the multitute of salats with goat chees they have.
Overa its very nice desu but I have my family summer house with a pool, 4 min walk from the beach so I’m a bit biased.

We do have goat and sheeps cheese but if you had white cheese in a restaurant on a salad it was most likely cow milk cheese, if it was something else they would label it.
>>
>>219294017
:(
>>
>>219294032
Why? I'm just saying, I mean I could be wrong, did it taste like goat cheese? You can tell immediately.
>>
>>219294084
It did :( i have only 2 restaurants i go to in the town because theyre tested
>>
>>219293715
It's true, there are only 2 synagogues in Bulgaria. I think there are about 4k Jews and most of them are secular. I worked with a guy from Israel for a while, he was a cool guy.
>>
>>219293262
india of balkans
>>
>>219294130
Oh... so if it tasted like goat then it probably was. Our goat cheese is really good I like it, Greeks also make it very well.
>>
>>219294155
It was you who brought the gypsies during the Ottoman empire. You will pay for that someday. Also they speak your language...peculiar right?

did you know that bulgaria is only the former axis state allowed to keep territorial gains from WW2
>>
>>219294180
Yes, it should be goat I also buy goat cheese here and make it, shopska salat among others
>>
>>219294326
Yeah shopska is the main salad here, it's a great combo with the tomatoes/cucumbers and cheese.
Our sheeps cheese is also pretty tasty.

Do you come here often to stay in your house?
>>
>>219294318
pic related
>>
>>219294485
Wtf is your problem exactly? We treat you very well here despite everything you've done. Show some fucking gratitude.
>>
>>219294485
i studied bulgaria not that long ago
>>
>>219294462
Every year for some weeks. I often visit Nesebyr because I got the house close to it, I often go to water parks but mostly swim and drink(duh, flag checks out).
>>
>>219294559
Nesebyr is fun, we used to go sleep there when we were in high school because it was cheaper so we could go party at Cacao Beach at night.
>Water Parks
desu I've never been to one here, why just not go to the beach?
>>
>>219294623
I go to the beach/pool every day so its a change of pace

The old part (town) of Nesebyr is very pretty with the old houses ect...Kind of regret not spending more time there instead of getting shitfaced in Cacao.

Did you buy the house or your parents? My mom had some land in Obzor but it wasn't near the beach and she sold it, prices are going up, she made bank even there where it's not a very popular destination compared to other places.

I've stayed exactly in that wooden hotel in picrel, it was so damn cheap 10-15 years ago. Probably slept there for $30 a night, downstares was very good restaurant.
>>
>>219294787
LOL, are you serious? That's very ironic.
>>
>>219294816
what's ironic?
>>
>>219294862
The period from 1300 to 1800.
>>
>>219294882
yeah it's longer than the history of bulgarian reign on that land
>>
>>219294792
Ive been to obzor but its just a lot of small shops with chinese stuff and beaches, i prefer the place im in although the moment autumn comes the small town goes dead, shops and restaurants close, people vanish, its a huge 180 turn from what it is during summer
>>
>>219294950
Not really but that's worse than taking a bunch of small towns.
>>
>>219293262
Bulgaria is so alien and foreign to me despite both Croatia and Bulgaria being "balkan". I only know some facts about medieval Bulgaria and that's about it.

Do people in Bulgaria often eat yogurt as a regular meal?
In Japan, yogurt is added with sugar and is treated as a dessert or sweet.
>>
>>219294962
>Ive been to obzor but its just a lot of small shops with chinese stuff and beaches
Exactly.
>i prefer the place im in although
Obviously.
And yeah it's pretty dead in Autumn and Winter although I have worked there during those seasons and locals still party. People who live on the coast are very different than other parts of Bulgaria, they are kind of crazy in a good way, kind of hustle society but with lots of humor.

>>219295015
>Do people in Bulgaria often eat yogurt as a regular meal?
Yeah, everyone has yogurt in their fridge at all times. We usually blend it and drink it as a drink, especially in the summer - it's very refreshing. But we do eat it with sweet stuff for desert, you can put honey on it or some kind of jam like strawberry or bluebarry, have with oats or whatever.

It's also an ingredient in baking or breakfast foods like pancakes ect...
>>
>>219295005
I'm the same about Croatia, I know you have gorgeous beaches. Luka Modric and Mandzukic lol
>>
>>219295088
Thank you for your reply. I see that Bulgarians often blend yogurt and drink it as a drink. I'll try that next time.
>>
>>219295264
I like a nice 3,5% fat yogurt (plane) and I blend it and maybe put a little bit of cold water or ice cubes, it's really good in the summer.

I've heard you guys like Bulgarian yogurt? Is it popular in Japan?
>>
>>219295012
Inb4 someone says tf tp but one thing i never understood about balkan wars is how much pride to this day the soldiers take in killing civilians. Like theres no exception all of them brag about it. Its unbelievable. Includes turkish soldiers too of course.
>>
>>219295321
In Japan, Bulgaria yogurt is, of course, the most popular.
It is sold under the product name "Meiji Bulgaria Yogurt."

>>
>>219295507
Wow, that's great to hear :) Glad you guys like it. You should try making pancakes with it instead of milk, it's very good, brings a nice tang, also maybe bake something if you are into that kind of stuff like muffins maybe or even pita bread.

We also drink the drink along with breakfast foods like french toast, it's a nice sweet/savory contrast you know...

It is, or at least half of it that was under Ottoman rule and we have a lot of immigrants from Serbia and Bosnia that are culturally from the deep balkans.
We aren't an Orthodox country, despite having strong modern infuence from Serbia and some from Byzantium, so we find some culturally Orthodox aspects exotic despite also being balkan. But maybe that's just me who is 100% West Croat. My Serbian neighbor and friend would probably find Bulgaria more familiar.
>>
>>219297381
true, you are kind of bridge between Central Europe and The Balkans, I'm not sure if you have the balkan spirit though, perhaps you do but I don't know much about Croatia unfortunately.
