living in a city saves you so much money not having to buy/maintain a car.the odd £15 on a taxi every now and then is nothing compared to car ownership.
I hate not having a car. My family lives rural so it's impossible to reach them without one and I always have to ask a sibling to pick me up
>>219298576I dont live in a city and dont need a car
>>219298623yeah if you're going to rural or even suburban areas often it's worth having one
>>219298640is it because you're a shut-in or because you have great public transport?
>>219298665I'm shut in but whenever I need to go somewhere I can just walk.
>>219298576Actually, you still need a car and just end up paying more for insurance, maintenance, and parking.>day tripsCar>home depot, costco, Ikea, MicrocenterCar>avoiding the subway past downtown Brooklyn and above 96th stCarcan't live without a car, especially in a city.
>>219298576I crave to buy a Bentley ASAPProlly bfr 2029 ends
>>219298576nothing beats the rural house + car combo though and this seems universal from what ive seen
there used to be cheap cars, a used Volvo would run you like 500 euro 30 years ago and would last you like 20k km or until you crashed it, these days buying cars feels like buying real-estate, when it used to be more like buying a new chainsaw or power drill
>>219298576>living in a city saves you so much money not having to buy/maintain a car.kek here even if you live in a city, you still have to buy a car which costs a fortune
>>219298968>day tripstrain>home depot costco ikeathose are all in my city and most cities>avoiding subwayif you have to go to a dangerous area, just use a taxi. that one off £15 is nothing compared to buying and owning a car
>>219300559>train for day tripsSubway/bus to the train station = 45 mins, train to the destination 2 hours, and still need a car when you are there vs 90 minute drive>home depot costco ikeaSubway to home depot, buy an air conditioner, just throw it away before leaving the store because can't take it up>taking a taxi/uber$100 for a 20 minute ride, $100 backIt's cheaper to own a car unless you are willing to completely subordinate your life to a carless lifestyle.
Two years of rent in a city costs more then a car
>>219303856salaries are far higher in cities
it's expensive, but the comfort is worth it unless you're very poor or live in the middle of a large city with great public transport
>>219298576>having to sit on a bus full of foreigners and weirdosno thanks
>>219298576I live in the city but work outside of it, so I need a car.
>>219303034in L O N D O N, you're almost never more than a 10 minute walk maximum from a tube station which is super cheap. In other cities it's always easy to get to a train station by walking. >We don't have air conditioners also you can just call a taxi. >$100 for a 20 minute ride is insane are you from California
>>219298576This, the savings are immense. I still need to commute each day but I just use public transport, which ends up being way cheaper. I'd get a car if I lived in the US, but since we're homogeneous the worst I have to worry about is some stinkers every now and then during summer. Our trains are great too so if I wanna go to another city that's also super easy. A lot of my friends don't have cars either, and the ones that do are extremely jaded and admit that it's a shitty money drain.

>>219298576i can't imagine a man older than 18 not owning a car.
