How do non new yorkers cope?
>>
new york is cool, but you can clearly see that the people there are stressed out and completely oblivious to the outside world
>>
I live there and I can confirm that we are in fact able to buy two Diet Cokes, a roll of paper towels, and peanut butter m&ms.
>>
>>219308378
In North Carolina we have tiendas.

Bodegas are literally the same thing as your Viet corner stores but there is a beaner behind the counter instead of a Nguyen
t. went to NYC
>>
>>219308740
Actually bodegas are now arabs.
>>
i dont get it? you can go to piggly wiggly and find all that stuff. most gas stations would even have everything they mentioned. are stores in nyc super compartmentalized or something?

>convenience store is a novelty worthy of a name for americans
>>
>>219308378
Uhh I go to the store two blocks away from my house and get that same shit for 1/3 of the price.
>>
Guys I think she was being sarcastic.
>>
>>219309115
Worse, that's the name of a company
Americans can only speak in brands
>>
>>219308378
damn i can buy all of those things at my local grocery store
>>

>>
>>219308378
>two diet cokes and peanut m&ms
gas station or convenience store
>roll of paper towels
would never buy a single roll of paper towels because I'm not a rentoid pedestrian bugman so I buy 12-16 rolls at the grocery store like a normal person
>>

She's a comedian.

>>
>>219308378
convenience store usually run by indians/pakistanis and sometimes arabs.
>>
>>219308378
>go to corner store
>pay twice what you would at a normal store because you're shitty at planning more than a day ahead

I'll manage.
>>
>>219308378
there's like 2 gas stations like 5 minutes away from where I live
>>
>>219308378
The grocery store. Or really any corner store actually.
>>
>>219310153
I don't think they sell individual rolls anywhere
>>
>>219309115
Americans see wet market or farmers market as novelties only rich people go. They made a 180° and now been poor is been fashionable.
>>
>>219311121
well farmers markets are more expensive than grocery stores.

Grocery stores simply get food from more efficient sources and have complex logistics, farmers markets simply can't compete on price, so the only recourse is to focus on being a luxury experience.

USA's agricultural and food distribution industry is just really efficient.

Our farms are consolidated and industrialized, less than 2% of our population works in agriculture
>>
>>219311483
That's only because those fuckers pay no taxes
>>
>>219308378
The store. NYC "bodegas" or whatever are extremely Latin-American-Coded, isn't that NOT a flex?

>jew yorkers have to go to a 6'x6' closet to buy ramen noodles from a pakistani immigrant, then return home to their 6'x6', $4000/mo closet apartment with no oven or refrigerator

damn I am jealous. It's horrible having a giant supermarket across the street where I can get whatever I want. I don't get the bodega experience.
>>
>>219311459
what does "off licence" mean here?
>>
>>219311646
They have a licence to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption off the premises. Has become shorthand for "this corner shop sells booze"
Pubs and restaurants have an on-licence in contrast, for booze to be drunk in the building.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_licensing_laws_of_the_United_Kingdom
>>
>>219309668
Didn't know, interesting. For anyone wondering, "bodega" is Spanish for 'cellar'. Nothing to do with some cornershop.
>>
>>219308740
wtf is even a nyen
>>
>>219311459
This desu, sold some shit on ebay, realised I didn't have any envelopes, quickly bought one in the paki shop along with a drink
I won't pretend it's some amazing thing like new yorkers though, if I had to I could wait for amazon or drive somewhere
