I can no longer afford shit in the west. Then it hit me: what if I could live iike a king with my money in some simpler country?

Where do you think I could buy a bamboo hut and live comfortably for virtually no money at all?
Myanmar? Samoa?
I don't even need modern luxuries. I'm willing to give up my gaming pc, Internet connection, smartphone and everything else.

Technology was a mistake. Truly a curse on humanity.
All tech exists to make the owners rich.
If I could, I'd like to go back to a pre-smartphone society.

every expat tries this once and miserably fails every time

Financial freedom retire early is a Mindvirus that ruined my life

I used to be happy and content, taking vacations every few months, sometimes every few weeks while while I earned only a few hundred Euro a month. I did this until I figured out that theoretically I could live off dividends

The gateway drug was thinking 500 euro a month could be safely withdrawn with merely 150k in savings and that this would be enough but it isn't

Today I earn over 6k net and have 450k invested, so 300% my initial goal, and I'm still not anywhere near affording retirement

The only thing that changed in the meantime is that I'm constantly stressed, put all my energy into learning dumb shit hate my life and feel poorer than when I went to school.

My plan even changed to retiring in Germany because I found that I strongly dislike humid air, harsh sunlight, mosquitoes, will eventually depend on healthcare and that my children shouldn't start life at a massive disadvantage by not speaking the local language.

Shipping yourself into a humid shithole is equivalent to committing suicide with extra steps

>pre-smartphone society
It was nice having the whole neighborhood socializing on a summer night.

what is the catch here?

Realistically somewhere like Thailand is what expats do, and yeah prices are going up but the idea would be to get there before it gets unreasonable
>>
>>219309578
Thailand maybe. I know some guy who went there (no pedo)

I feel like if I had an apartment and dividends from investments were 50% of my current salary (maybe even less) then I could retire
This is all on the assumption that I remain an incel and expenses never go up past inflation by a second person being there

Anon you have no idea how hot and humid Finland is in the summer.
We also have no jobs and I make like 12k a year. No savings, we're poor as fuck.

Finn here.
You can get houses for 20k in Finland. The catch is that Finland is a large, sparsely populated country. Your cheap house will be 50 kilometers from the nearest store. You don't want that. You just don't. In the winter you'll be very isolated.

I hate phones so much. They turned people into zombies all over the world.
People no longer live in the real world and experience real things
They just look at screens and get offended by the text they read

I've spent several months in Finland, I've been to the far north, the baltic coast and the small cottage islands. People are much happier in Finland compared to Germany even if they earn less and things are more expensive. There is a feeling of being content even if thingd aren't perfect because things come by easily. In Germany there is a constant dread of nothing being good enough because you have to put up with so many nuisances to get it. Regarding the climate, it's not that different in the south.

Imagine spending 20 years in schools learning abstract useless capitalist shit like programming and STILL being unhealthy, stressed, enslaved, and dependent on the system for everything.

We need a revolution.

yea but if you are talking about recluses, is that really an issue

>people are happy in Finland

Most of my friends laugh at the "happiest country in the world" meme.
We have the highest unemployment in Europe but barely any welfare, so a lot of people have the purchasing power of an African slave. I know people who can't afford a new pair of shoes. Still the government keeps shipping in 70k immigrants per year.
Every winter we get -30C and in the summer we get a humid +30C.
There's nothing to do here except drink alcohol and browse social media.
Let me live in Bavaria, bro. I bet it's comfy.

Yes. What else is the point of all of this?
>>219310055
It's entirely possible to buy a one room apartment near Izmir or in a small town on the Portugese coast and have another 150k for power and food. For many people there that's their entire full time income. Even people from poor countries like Germany and England can do this.
But then you give up the majority.of major life experiences to live like an exiled prisoner.
>>
>>219310240
buy some land and take the Varg pill then, you dont need a lot of money if you have some land and you are willing to work hard on it to grow food for yourself, especially if you really dont like and want tech areound you.
I tired it once . I lived for 3 months in my father's little property alone. Afer some times it gets really boring and you begin thinking too much with no distractions and being alone

>But then you give up the majority.of major life experiences to live like an exiled prisoner.

I've already accepted that.
I'm 38, I've never had a gf, all my family is dead, I have no career... I literally don't exist as far as society is concerned.
I'm just looking for a place where I could live the rest of my days with as little pain as possible. It's quite sad but the system is broken so it's not like I'd be happy "making it" as some soulless corpo fuck or Mr Beast type

In this situation and without any aspiration to change it I would dedicate my life to killing Merkel for what she did to Germany in 2015
>>
>>219310281
Yes, it's very much an issue for recluses because living in a remote place means you need to interact more with people and arrange all kinds of stuff for your life there. Living somewhere with services you don't have to arrange anything or interact with anyone except the cashier at the store basically.

Wow, didn't realize it was so bad across the pond.
